Hey everyone!

Since this seems to have slipped through the staff’s attention , I would like to point out that Uthgard, or rather this DAoC freeshard project (which started under a different name), turns 15 this September. This freeshard has been a wonderful home for many players around the world since September 2003. Well, that’s a reason to celebrate!

A quick recap:

The freeshard, which initially was simply called Camelotserver, started 15 years ago, in September 2003. In the beginning, the server had a rather small, mostly German-speaking community. However, over the years it evolved into something much bigger; namely the best, most advanced free Dark Age of Camelot server with one of the largest DAoC communities the world has to offer!

A lot has changed over the years, from the beginning as an unknown server to what Uthgard is today. In the early days, we had like 50 people at best playing on the server. No spells, no skills and no drops were implemented at that time of point. In 2005, the server had a new player record, with roughly 320 players logged in simultaneously. Later on, there were about 500 players online. Since Uthgard's relaunch in 2017, there were often more than 1000 players playing simultaneously on Uthgard (not to mention the 4000+ players after the beta ended). Who would have thought that in 2003/2004? :)

I know that the population has dipped recently, but I'm still more than happy to see the server alive and doing well after all these years; and that there are still hundreds of players from all over the world - including many who've been with Uthgard from the start - who share the same love and passion for this truly great game.

Get ready for some nostalgia:

Now, let's take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in making all of this happen! Congratulations to Uthgard, to the staff and to the whole community. Here's to many years to come!

Please feel free to share your personal experiences or special moments you've experienced on Uthgard with the whole community, whether it's about the friends you’ve made, the battles you’ve fought or the fun you’ve had over the years.

Right!

Too many people are whinning, not enough people are recognizing the luck we all have to be able to play DAoC for free on a stable and well managed server for so many years. I saw many servers for the last 12 years, but only Uthgard is still here...

Thanks for your post Kazu and thanks to the Uthgard team!

Beautiful post. And even more beautiful pics!!!! Many thanks for this.
Happy 15th anniversary Uthgard!!! I wish we could throw a huge party for the staff, past and present, present especially.

I started playing here in 2008 after an extremely messy abusive relationship. This server let me focus on something other than my anxiety and depression. I know others have said this but Uthgard probably saved my life too. More than once as my mortal struggles never seem to end. Bleah. Even though I never seem to make friends here for long, I always consider the staff here friends.

Thank you so much! Happy 15!!

One of the most crazy RvR moments of Uthgard2, not long after launch.

well well well, it's surely been a while

happy birthday Uthgard!

sadly it seems i lost all my screenshots and uthgard related media when I got my new computer. I even had some old videos (240p, the glorious days of early youtube)

all I managed to find was my old signature

I'm no longer active on DAoC but dad's still around. maybe I'll return someday...

again, happy birthday, may you be around for years to come ^-^
