Lately I've been seeing people organizing gambling games.
Place a bet, /random 100, double your money if score >52 etc etc...

Since it's probably the best business model ever (the reason why it's usually taxed to the throat by irl authorities), do you have an official stance on player-run money games?

A base principle of online games design is to preserve the risk/reward or effort/reward ratio.
Money games can be more profitable than any other activity, for very little effort. This can lead to huge wallets and gold selling pratices for instance.

It's not like the gold is manifesting itself out of thin air.

Effort was still put in to acquire the gold, how easily it transfers hands after that is a social aspect between the players.

I think they're silly, but if people want to do it do we really need to police and scrutinize every single player interaction to preserve the purity of the game?

Dragon raids don't have to be about /random. There are many other ways to distribute the loot.
