What is autotrain?

- Autotrain is a automatic system created by mythic to ensure that players didn't neglect important spec lines for their classes

So who autotrains?
VNboards wrote:- Midgard:

Shadowblade (Stealth)
Warrior (Sword, Axe, Hammer)

-Hibernia:

Nightshade (Stealth)
Ranger (Recurve Bow)

-Albion:

Armsman (Slash, Thrust)
Infiltrator (Stealth)
Mercenary (Slash, Thrust)
Minstrel (Instruments)
Paladin (Slash, Chants)
Reaver (Slash, Flexible)
Scout (Longbow)

So when do I get those free skill points?

lvl8 skill 1->2
lvl 12 skill 2->3
lvl 16 skill 3->4
lvl 20 skill 4->5
lvl 24 skill 5->6
lvl 28 skill 6->7
lvl 32 skill 7->8
lvl 36 skill 8->9
lvl 40 skill 9->10
lvl 44 skill 10->11
lvl 48 skill 11->12

So how do I autotrain?

- You simply don't spec in the line you want autotrained

But what if I have already done so?

- Then you can not autotrain, there is a few exceptions here though

Q. "I have trained in longbow on my scout but I am only lvl 7, can I still autotrain?"
A. Yes, simply respec out of longbow before continue leveling

Q. "I have trained in longbow on my scout but I am only lvl 12, can I still autotrain?"
A. Yes, however you won't get the full value of your autotrain, when you respec your longbow skill will be stuck at 3 longbow (check list of lvl/autoskill) that means your autotrain will continue from 3 and forward, meaning that at lvl 16 it will autoskill from 3->4 and so forth

I have autotrained from 1-48 but at 50 I find out I want to use a full respec also respeccing my autotrain line, will I loose my autotrain?

- No, when you respec you will have 12 points in your autotrain line (same goes for people who haven't autotrained from 1-48 ), those 12 points are stuck in your AT line, however that would be the case whether you had autotrained or not so you are actually better off than people who haven't autotrained

Could I spec in my autotrain line and then respec before each autotrain lvl (8,12,16,20,...) and then gain the full autotrain bonus?

- Yes, but you need to respec every single time before you reach the autotrain level (means you have to respec at: 7,9999; 11,99999; 15,99999; 19,99999 etc.)

Hi,

You can train normaly => respec at level 47.99 your autotrain line ( for ex stealth for sb/ns/infi ) => up level 48 => Then you'll gain full autotrain ( 12 in stealth for this exemple ). :D

Nixian is right.
With your example when respec with 47,99 you will have 11 points into stealth but those come from your normal specpoints.
When you now level to 48 you will get the 12 from AT but overall you only have +12 points from AT and not +77.

Just found out that Mythic had finally disabled autotraining in 1.87. T'was a good change, IMO; there was never a real need for auotraining so all it did was encourage min-maxers to suffer without a skill line as they PvE (ie: minstrels without instruments; the benefit of AT is quite real for minstrels).

These are very useful information to help people to start off their class as part of the tutorial. PLS STICKY IT!

One special thing about Warriors: If you want to use the autotrain points you MUST level without any weapon spec because all 3 weapon spec lines are autotrain. :D

Warrior (Sword, Axe, Hammer)

doesn't that say the same thing? :P

Just wanted to say you can't just autotrain 2 lines and respec later to use the autotrain points. :P

Ah, if I do that I'll just get the points swapped, if I understand that right.
Example: I leveled till lvl48 only with speccing points in Hammer. Then I respec at lvl48 from hammer to axe. That would mean:
From
sword: 1 + 11at +0spec
hammer: 1 + 0at + 47spec
axe: 1 + 11at + 0spec

To
sword: 1 + 11at +0spec
hammer: 1 + 11at + 0spec
axe: 1 + 0at + 47spec

Which is no benefit at all.

My understanding and a question:

If you fully AT you get, so to say, an "extra" 77 points.

So to verify, if I only want an additional 20 points to achieve my desired spec at lvl 50, it looks like after I receive my AT at level 24, I can begin training. I will have AT'd the equivalent of 20 points.

2+3+4+5+6=20

Then in the future if I respec or something, I will still get these levels correct? Partial autotrain?

Thanks
Red

yes that's right.

You don't lose "extra" AT points when you respec.
