Hello all,
I recently started playing DAOC after taking a long break and I dont really remember how to read or understand templates that people have. Is there any chance someone would be willing to PM me, or even do it here, an example template and break down each section, describing how to understand it? Sorry if this question seems foolish, but I've looked at a few templates and I really don't understand them. Thank you! Last edited by arakias on Apr 05, 2009 00:56, edited 1 time in total.

my template
![]()
spam from the program which tells about how many utility points the item set has (pretty much useless info)
this part tells you what you will get added to your stats when you have all the items on (this means if my toon has 100 dex and puts on theese items he will have 175 - btw if you look at dex it will say 81/75 that means that you get added 81 str from the items but cap at lvl 50 is at 75 which means you get 75 dex from this item set) here also note hitpoints 184/200 means i am 16 hit points from capping at lvl 50 which means i am getting 184 not 200 from my items
same as before but this is resists
same as before but this is skills
always 0 stuff here on uth i believe
this is the armor / weapons that has been used imbue = something SC people use to see how much more stats/resists they can put on the armor / weapon quality = quality of armor /weapon stats = what has been spellcrafted on the armor/weapon utillity = a way to measure how much you gain for having this item on (used to say if you want an item with 10 dex 4 skill 4 resists 100hit points or 22 dex 1 skill 9 resists 20 hit points)
same as before but this is jewelry items which is always drops on uthgard weapons / armor can be crafted or drops hope that helped |

Alright, so what I have gathered is that these templates are solely about what your gear winds up bringing you--including the stat section, since (at least in the example) 11 stats all around would be far below the cap--and not what you actually spec for. Why on earth don't they list how the characters behind said template spend their skill points? And is there a place where I can at least view cookie cutter or highly regarded skill point specs and not just gear templates (seeing as I won't be getting said gear until I have leveled and a spec worked out). It just seems counter-intuitive in the long run, especially to those who are new to the game.

this is for people who have 50 toons already
to figure out a cookie cutter spec ask in the correct realm forum or in general talk (or maybe even support) people will gladly help if you ask.. also if you need a place to look what people get look at: http://daoc.catacombs.com/cbuilder.cfm |

Your gear has not much to do with your Charspec.Ofc you wanna get +11 on the weapon types/spell lines you use in most cases, but it doesn´t matter if you have specced 39 Axe or 50 axe for your template. You wanna cap it anyways.
Btw. +11 in speclines doesn´t give you any new spells/Styles,it just makes your spells/styles stronger. <img src="http://sigtool.covod.org/getImage.php?user=Islana&key=DHKZgbkxJYFMlL">
