Lfg channel?

Having joined a guild, and a great one to, but it's hard to find groups when only 2% uses the lfg tool (I might be wrong...).
I remember someone before having made a chatgroup, and spread the word it's a lfg channel, and then people would use that as lfg channel. Sadly I also remember people joining channel and flame people, refusing to leave because the chat was public and GM's not being helpfull either. Think it would be doable here? Albion and having fun

I think the LFG chat would be a very good idea.
Doable? Who knows, people does not use the tool, im not sure they would use (join) the chat. |

Yea, I dont get why ppl dont use the tool all that often. Not really hard to do, I guess just lazy. Although will be the same folks complaining on the forums that they cant get groups... lol

I know why. I have 3 main chars, animist bard and enchanter. I want to lvl bard, so I set up LFG and then what? If there's no one else lfg, I can either solo ( ![]() ![]() ![]() Albion and having fun

In these instances, I just set the lvl range of my lfg to include all the alts I am lfg, and then just send tells when I see someone on that matches a lvl/class I am looking for. Then start building the group from there. Better to have what ever char your on in lfg and just check it often. I mean, maybe it would be better to focus on 1 char rather than 3? Really can't complain much imo. The games not Dark Age of Alts or anything. If you want to have 3 main chars, and LFG for all of them at the same time, then your gonna have to do more work rather than complain that you cant just queue 3 chars in lfg and go about your business while you wait for tells. <Blood Feud>

This is a usability issue, not a user issue. There's a variety of different ways people can experience this game, not just one. If people like variety, that's their prerogative. In terms of using the tool, I have learned how to use it myself and use it regularly. I don't recall whether this is something that was a feature of Classic DAOC, or if this is a new tool developed by Uthgard Devs. If it is a carry-over piece of code, it is something that could use some improvement. I certainly don't remember using it when I played over a decade ago. I have yet to see more than one or two names of people listed in the tool, and admit that figuring out how it worked wasn't exactly intuitive, even when using the guide. Because this is likely a usability issue, Devs may want to stage some usability testing to observe the behaviours of people learning to use the tool to best identify key problem areas and determine whether they are fixable or not. A minimum of 8 testers should be observed to get a minimal set of data to work from, but obviously more is ideal. The use case identified here (several characters) is valid, and as time goes on will become a growing issue as players mature and increase their character pools. While the LFG tool is a great start, there's obviously room for improvement given the apparently ultra low adoption rate. If the tool is an option that Devs want to explore for global group-making, then an account rather than class-based approach might be worth exploring. I'm not even sure if something like this is possible given all of the elements that would need to be considered here (how will available classes/levels be listed? how will the tell system be impacted, etc.). Certainly one elegant approach would be a global LFG channel, possibly involving less development effort than to get the LFG system to a usable state. I also understand that Global chat could have another set of problems that are grand in scale, and am not sure if this is a feasible solution or not. I certainly appreciate what's been done to re-create the Classic experience so far, but I agree that group-making seems a bit more challenging than it needs to be. Portabella - Shroom Farmer

Noone uses it because it doesn't work. If you mark yourself as lfg while solo everything is fine. As soon as you are grouped you cannot see the lfg window with ppl searching most of the time anymore...

Thus far, even yesterday, once I set LFG, I can check LFG by hitting the Show LFG in the group window. This worked while grouped or not and my LFG stayed set to LFG after joining a group. The past 2 days I have found solo's and a grouped person in LFG, talked to the grouped person and got me and the other solo's into the group. Only instance I've seen when the window doesnt pop up is when no one is set in LFG. However this is also affected with what you set yourself. If you set your LFG as "Unspecified", then you will see everyone LFG in your lvl range. If you set your LFG to RVR, EXP, etc. then you will ONLY see people that are set that way. So almost always, it is better to set yourself "Unspecified" rather than something specific. <Blood Feud>
