Hi

Ive decided its pointless to play an sb, its like being a 5 year old trying to beat up an adult, fighting rangers that is.

Whats the best race for a melee ranger? My ambition is to own 2-3 sbs at once.

Somoene said Shars were good but I would hate to ding a 50 shar and discover that he can only kill say 2sb's where a luri maybe can kill 3.

Please advise the best race for my Ranger.

ps. don't like your undertone here .. but maybe you will find out when you get to 50 that ranger ain't as OP as you feel they are

If you've had so many problems with Rangers, you should know the best race already

I've seen so many just plain lazy assassins here. They don't swap weapons, they won't use a heal pot or a charge during fight. I've seen alot not even spec into viper, or use speciality venoms or kite to use FA. Theres alot of tactics you could use instead of trying to stand toe to toe with a melee ranger. They want to walk up to somebody and spam doublefrost and amy slash and have people keel over.

They all seem good, well i dont think ive ever killed one on my sb since thid, but presumably there are better and worse races for a ranger..? wanted to go for the best.

No way to beat 2 or 3 good playing SBs at once. There is no best race. For blades of course shar or celt. Celt has better race resistance and shar more hitpoints. So both are really good.

Nope never thought I was uber, but if u read my recent story of an sb post in rvr forum ud c that sbs vs rangers is mostly a lose situation for the sb - ask noir he posted recently at rr10 how a rr5 tranger got him...u saying noir cant play..?

I think he also said he doesn't spec viper. If you're not willing to spec and use the tools that are available to you it takes to win fights, then you really shouldn't complain. It would be like me specing full bow and pathfinding, and complaining I couldn't outmelee anyone.

Nope..i did spec vip 3 before RR5 but before the posion killed the ranger, the ranger killed me....very occasionally hed die of the poison but usually hed use a heal pot.

Vip 3 isnt viable though with no purge so at rr5 I took vip2 purge 2, vip2 is good but wont kill a ranger before the ranger has killed u

FYI - I use a fully capped MP temp with dragonmight and 2 feral talons outa taj, I run with all buffs runnibng d/q 63, Elix Might / Stre / dmg add / haste / and a dmg shield...

The temp cost me 70p alltold...so Im hoping I dont fall into the lazy assasin camp...but nevertheless a 4l3 ranger with crafted weapons hands me my hat everytime lol

I didn't say you were lazy, I just said there are alot here. Its great you have an awesome template, wish I had some high end items..we make do with what we have tho. Template and buffs are just things you need to be ready to fight, doesn't automatically win the fight for you tho

You need to try diff things man, cookie cutter SB spec might not be for you. Try different tactics. I know as an assassin here I would dex/quick debuff and lethargy off the bat, any ranger. See what works, what doesn't. I'm not telling you anything you don't know bro.

Guess you're just a bad player then. I could kill rangers pretty easily with a rr4 SB without that much stuff and no viper. Only d/q and haste charges. Poisons are so OP they make it unbeliavably easy to kill anything. The only things that killed me regularly were rr5+ gimps with viper3.

Luri - Best for Pierc and bow, high qui for attack speed. Not good for blade spec.

Celt - Good for blades and Pierc, Decent for bow and 72 Hp more then luri.

Shar - Good for Blades, not as good with pierc because of the lower Dex, has 72 more hp then celt, not the greatest choice for bow.

The diffrences in game play is minor, but the way i see it is, luri is best if you plan on being full bow, full melee pierc, or hybird with pierc, no blade specing. Celt is more of a balance for better full melee and still can use bow as good as luri and has more str to be better with blades, while the shar has less dex isnt the greats with bow and is more for full melee with blades.

For you, youl prob want full melee because of your asumpsions. Celt would prob be the best choice and spec full melee , auto bow. Bgs will be fun and easy, as it is with most classes, but wait till lvl 50 to make up your mind on there OP, when soloing. Grping and adding will oviously be easy. Im sure sooner or later youl notice it actualy does take some skills and decent choice in Ras to win. And remember, there isnt any Viper 3 dot to do most of the dmg for you .
