Uggg just spent 2 hours at work trying to sneak in a forum post only to have it tell me I needed to re-log in deleting my post in the process.

I found out about this server from a friend last week. It took a little convincing to get me to come back; I quit this game once people were pouring oil on my face when I was trying to take keeps. In the end, this turned out to feel like a cruel joke, because he got me here with promise of helping me get started, playing with me, etc... only to tell me he doesn't feel like playing anymore.

With it being slow going just to get to level 5, I managed to convince my bf to install. Everything's better with a partner :) After much deliberating, he decided upon an animist. Which is awesome because I know nothing about the class, so I am unable to help him with tips, tricks, specs, etc. I did toss aside the super baby warden to augment his choice with a mana ment.

Things have been pretty miserable. Spell casting seems a bit clunkier than I remember. Between that, animist pets pulling everything in a 50 mile radius, me getting aggro and dying, him getting aggro and dying, and him getting mad at how terrible quick cast functions. Uggg is all I'll say. He ended up logging off last night and telling me he was done.

He asked me what I saw in this game later in the night; when I gave him my reply, he decided to give it another shot.

I feel like we should reroll. Given his class choices in other games we've played together, I can't help but think he'd be really happy on a bard. I'm game to play whatever will be the best leveling duo. Something that will give us an easy time so I don't have to worry about a fuss over leveling woes. I'm really really excited to get back into things. I loved RVR... and I know I can get him sucked in if I can get him leveled with me.

My knowledge of all things DAoC are pretty rusty - I haven't played since 04. What would be the best pairing for a bard? My votes for a BM, but will I be getting us killed all the time because I can't feed myself gear? Should we stick with what we have? Or just think of a completely different duo?

Also, and I completely hate to beg, but could anyone possibly set us up with some noobish starter gear. My desire to play here is higher than my level of embarrassment for needing to ask for help :p

Thanks in advance!

Bard + BM is a really good leveling duo. Both wanted in RvR too. ;) I think Mana Ment + Ench would be a better leveling duo than Mana Ment + Ani though if you decide to go back to them instead.
[3:10pm] <myrmidon^> You have to be a c*** to be awesome at daoc
[3:10pm] <myrmidon^> that's what I learnt
[3:11pm] <Frosty_> then why does austerim suck

The group that runs up against them can't kill them fast enough because smite clerics have sooooooo many tools at their disposal combined with decent ranged damage with 8 of them dudes doing it!

Optional partners for a Bard if just the two of you and not looking for rvr group. Champ/Ranger/BM/Hero(LW/Shield Spec)/Valewalker all of these do high dmg and work great with the endu bard. If he gets good at it you can do a lot of small man in emain later and should have fun. BM/Bard or Hero/Bard are more set for if you eventually want to hit up 8man grouping. Ranger Bard would give you options for solo later if he decides he doesn't like the game. On a side note Warden/Animist is one of -the best- pve duos for leveling and cash farming. At 50 they can farm stuff non-stop. In BGs let the warden lure people into his shroom trap stacks. It's brutal.

So I played Classic - New Frontiers and a little bit of Lab on main servers.. So i played for well over 5 years total.

I recently went to Camelotherald and saw all the changes because Ive been away from the game for quite a while!

I found this because I wanted a CLASSIC experience.

I am going to be Rolling Hib and was planning on rolling BARD. I would be hella interested in joining people who are experienced in leveling and playing like I am, and also even helping new players.

My best friends brother wants to play but he sees the game and tells me "WTF do you see in this game"... I try to explain how it literally is the best MMO ive ever played but since hes just getting into it he has his judgement about the game.

I was planning on doing BARD and him playing BM since I can support him while he just kills stuff.

Again if you wanna play some feel free to msg me I am starting probably today / tonight.

:)

Yeah good luck getting him on board.. It's tough because the graphics blow compared to what's out there.

Bard is good for a duo or group play, and the best partner for a bard is a BM, followed by Hero. Why? BM has better DPS to carry the team, Hero is good @ slamming / protecting you and providing decent DPS

IMHO casters are a waste of time in RVR on this server unless a support caster (PBT / Nearsight / disease / CC)
