Yeah basically the topic. From what I remember they were by far the best solo pve class in mana bomb specc together with tank pet. Any competition from the newly introduced classes?

Erm depends on what you're trying to do. I'd argue that at 50 an animist can solo better than an enchanter. Now Enchanter with a Mentalist? No stopping that duo in the grind but for solo, unless you got plenty of RAs for your power and really watch your pet then things can be rough. Others can tell you better than me though, also it helps if you explain what you're trying to do solo. PvE? PvP? Farm phat lewtz?

PvE is the primary goal. Animist might be fun to, but since there was a limit on the number of shrooms maybe its not that good anymore. Bomber would be nice to trash groups and I remember some enchs that did some boss fights entirely without support, just their pet and dmg shield.

Shroom limit is 30 right? It's way enough ;)

It's pretty high, high enough that it's hard to reach it solo without MCL and a bit of serenity. Leveling a solo enchanter is probably easier but at 50 you still need to RA's to be able to solo any boss mobs, it is doable but takes practice. Meanwhile the animist can go farm purps (if he has kiting room) single pulls pretty non stop with just some serenity.

animist > ench if solo. Get you some camp fires, serenity levels and alchemy buffs and you're good to go!

ench > animist if grouped with support druid (40+nurture/30ishreg). Hello focus shield/godmode compatriot.

Pick which works for you.
