Hello there,

I'm trying to get rid of my old thid template and build a decent splitspec one on my Nightshade. I'm having issues capping everything without the need to pay 200+plat so I was thinking about neglecting one stat (37 quick in my case) to be able to capp everything else.
So I would like to know the real benefit of capping quickness on a NS on which I need to be able to switch weapons fast for poison.

Is having very high quickness + slow weapon the same as having less quickness + a faster weapon in term of overall damage. Will I get damage loss?

Let me explain:
I entered (on an online calculator) diffent numbers to calculate my overall swing speed with different weaponspeed and quick amount.

1st try is the one I'm using with my current template:
Weapon Speed = 3.7
Quickness = 248
Righthand Swing Speed = 1.916304
Dual Wield Swing Speed = 1.579656

What I aim:
Weapon speed = 3.3
Quickness = 211
Righthand Swing Speed = 1.911822
Dual Wield Swing Speed = 1.651119

So, in both cases overall swing speed is almost equal and I'm above 1.5 speed cap which means I shouldn't suffer from damage loss.

This in in theory on my online calculator but will it be the same in game? Is there something I'm missing here? What woulds the benefit be from capping quickness in my case?

Slower weapons hit harder, so slower weapon swung at the same speed as faster weapons do more DPS. I would guess you give up 10-13% damage with the 3.3 instead of the 3.7 with higher quickness in your scenario.

Yes, you will do more dmg with slower weapons and high quick compared to faster weapons without quick. The reason is that every effect which increases your swingspeed (quick,haste,celerity) only decreases your styledamage, your basedmg will remain the same.

You cannot compare same swing speed having different quicknes values.

In your head you must figure this: quickness = free haste buff.
It's in your interest to have the highest possible quickness because it lets you swing slower weapons (more damage) at same speed of faster ones. You are also a NS, so there's even more convenience in having high quickness, since it also improves your evading ability. Quickness for improving swing speed is capped at 250, while when improving evade it has no cap on uthgard.
So my advice is to hit 250 quickness, that if you are a lurikeen self buffing with Pooka mantle it means that you will reach 253 total quick (+75 from template and +75 from d/q buff) without having to spend any initial point on it.
Once you are swinging with 250 quickness, you can see what speed suits you best betweenn 3.3 and 3.9 ;)

Evade is hardcapped at combined 500 dex/quick.

I guess you did not wonder why i wrote on uthgard, uh? :P

We all know standard evading formula, even me (because it's simple after all).
I wrote "on Uthgard" because here is different. There's no cap.

Blue wrote:3) You get uncapped benefit from Dex+Qui. Evade chance in RvR is capped at 50%.

As you can see along the thread, i asked him twice because i thought i misunderstood at the beginning, and Blue gave me same answer: no stat bonus cap, only cap of 50% maximum chances.

Sacrifice a resist in your template rather than quickness..
