Hi,

I played a while back on mid mostly but quit around ToA time. Looking to start here because I'm still nostalgic for this game.

questions.

1. I've heard Hib has a lot of US players? I played mid back on Guin in the good ole days, so something new sounds like a nice challenge.

2. Can druids solo very well? I started playing an aug healer but only to 10. Kills fairly slow, but steady.. not so bad. Just seems like there is a lot of solo grinding, but maybe it gets better at higher levels.

3. Is BM a decent alternative? seems to be rather gear heavy, and possibly a lot of sitting there to regen health

4. Bards.. I played one to about 20 years ago. It's pretty fun, but I don't remember them soloing well. Also, is twisting still a pain?

Thanks for any answers, I will probably roll up something tonight and see how things go!

Welcome to Uthgard :)

I'd recommend a Warden, because it's very easy to level, you have good Buffs (especially the self buffs: Endu, Health, Haste) and a decent Speed (comparable to Runemaster-Speed).
I made several Levels chain killing Cap-XP-Mobs, without sitting down/reg once.

Highly recommendable as a first toon.

Cu around.

I ve no idea of US player base, but on Hib there is a pretty big guild "The Convenant" with a lot of american players.
Druids can solo but you better grp up when you reached level 20. If you want to do RvR at the end, BM is properbly the best class to start with. Easy to equip, easy to level and most needed class in RvR groups.

Bard here is not exactly as it was in Bard's Tale for CBM 64, or did you mean AD&D? :D

To answer your question: you need both a fun toon but also a toon able to join raids as much as possible in the future.
Lot of players take to 50 more then 1 toon, at least one to play rvr and one for the raids.
If you want to save a little bit of your time, roll from the start a toon able to do both things.
Druid is the most rare class on hibernia and, although you won't be able to solo much, you'll always find a place in groups for exping, for rvr and for dropping.
If you want a less needed toon (but always important and easily groupped), go for the Warden. Able to solo both in exp and rvr but easily grouped, because he has unique abilities (bubble and resists the most famous), heals and is also not that bad as a tank.
On Uthgard 1.0:
Totenpfeil <Ranger> - Vlath <Hunter> - Toten <Eldritch> - Totentanz <Skald>
On Uthgard 2.0:
Totenzweig <Druid> - Totentanz <Skald>

went with a BM, hopefully that fills both roles well enough.. i hope

level 18, starting to get a little easier, but wish I was luckier with the drops. Vendor gear sucks!

a lot of nice people on Hib side i've found, reminds me of the good days of DAoC.

Give me a wave if you see me,
