The last try was on Thuesday-for several reasons: Gil wrote:IMO, the Mid dragon as it is today is unkillable. We tried it a couple of hours ago with a Very Knowledgeable BG, ALL in TeamSpeak, ALL level 50s, all experienced dragon raiders from early live and Uthgard1. We tried it with less than 25 people inside the lair, etc. Nothing mattered. The dragon still ported people out of the lair AND randomly glared at people who didn't have aggro.
TLDR: Mid dragon SHOULD be hard but not impossible. Please adjust to make it more like it was on live at patch 1.65.
Fhear wrote:To elaborate further:
As Gil already mentioned: We were about 5 FG and tried different tactics. Due to the teleporting into the mobs, we needed 3 groups which each cleared all 3 teleport-zones. The other 2 groups took care of Gjalpinulva. In this scenario 3 major 'problems' regarding the dragon were observed:
1. The aggro really seemed to be random. Why? First group entered with 2 Tanks the Lair and tried to aggro. THEY alone entered and nobody else. The tanks seemed to got aggro within 15 seconds, but suddenly the aggro switched to the shaman of the group, which did not even cast any spell - his mana was full. Also the second group, which was outside got randomly AE'd, they were about 2000 or more locs away from the Lair. This group as well did not heal or cast any spell on the first group/dragon.
2. The AE seemed to trigger not 'correctly'. Why? As mentioned before: Even people outside of the Lair, which were not in fight, got AE'd with STUN and DAMAGE. Secondly, as well mentioned before: The dragon does not announce his glaring. Of course he stands still with head up, so we knew that there is an incoming AE, but no announcement who he was glaring at. Only 2 times(out of 20 or so) we saw the message: "Gjalpinulva glares at (null) and unleashes a horrendous blast!"
3. Teleport? This point is more a thought: We all didn't remember this feature as it is implemented right now. If I observed this correctly: The dragon right now, randomly selects a few people, who will be teleported away into 3 directions into mobspawns. The problem here is: That also the tanks will be ported away with no announcements. I personally think that is okay, because this adds a challenge to the dragon, BUT it should be anyhow observable/predictable.

I have identified the (null) issue and will work to remedy.
Please be aware we know our dragons are not tethered to the lair. Our tether mechanics need some improvements before we enable this. As of now, they can select people outside of the lair.

The null issue is huge of course but another big issue was we never saw ANY messages when it decided to teleport. Also, back in the day (2003) on live it never teleported anyone UNLESS there were 25 or more players IN THE LAIR. We were getting ported with only 16 players in the lair. Might this be tied to the 'tether' issue? Is it counting players from outside the lair as being in threat range and that's why we get tossed?

The other issue is its impossible to hold agro on him. He changes targets frequently and even if our warrior could keep agro at the beginning, it would only last until he's inevitably ported a 45 second run away into agro.

I think we can kill him with a zerg. We managed to put it at 30% the first time while trying to "use tactic" (which was useless).
Will try to build a new Dragon BG this week-end and i'm sure we'll kill him if we are enough. Get ready and raise your cold resist !

Well, sadly this was the worst timing for a crash ever. 80, mostly lv. 50 people ready in Skona, and the Server went down.
See ya tomorrow for the next try!

Yes I know there is no message for teleport, it is a TODO. At the moment I await different method for delivering the message. The current method Blue has identified as problematic so he is working to build a better function for me.
So, known issue: Teleport spell produces no message. Glare message produces no message. Glare alert is delivered as the spell fires.
As I explained previously, our Dragons are not tethered to the lair. Forget anything that says "in the lair" for the time being until we tether them. This is not on any near-term roadmap because tether is a larger issue affecting a variety of encounters.

Thx for the feedback. Can I try the dragon with an important BG this week-end or will I waste the time of 150 players ? i.e. : except message missing, can we kill it or is it too complicated atm with (for example) too strong Cold AE DD ?

The dragons have been killed with fewer than the number you are proposing. With the right combination of classes I bet you could storm through it with those numbers.

Abydos speak only about hibs with his shrooms who killed the dragon. What "class combination" we should use if around 100 people tried it? There was enough combination of any class.
