I Just join to day and I am happy it runs smooth. It is really the only game I got for now so I will be on a lot.
I would like my main to be a Shadowblade. I read that this is a bad first class to play, but i am going to give it a try anyway. I will prob make an alt that does not need much equipment to help raise some money. What is a good way to make money for your first character? Are there any good guilds to join for beginners? Also, i'm always interested in hearing tips from experienced Shadowblades. Anyway My Shadowblade is Grimwulf. feel free to look him up. |

Shadowblade as first toon is fail. You will be strong in braemar even with ****** gear, purely because it's a strong class, but already in wilton you will get owned and it won't be fun. A good template is expensive and most stealthers run fully buffed and with really good temps, so you should level the alt faster than SB, to attend raids. Zerk/shaman/healer/skald/warr are good toons for various raids. Good way to make money is ask some players to give u couple hundred gold and just level any of your crafts. Now, most people will advise you tailoring because you can level your metalwork and woodwork with it, and tailoring is cheapest to become LGM. However, armorcraft is equally good and not that more expensive up to 1000, after that it gets a lot more expensive. Making studded boots/gloves is fast and cheap and well, you can make money from studded, unlike leather. There are various threads with same topic, so just browse the forum for spots with salvage loot etc. As for guilds, I don't know, but there is at least 2-3 guilds on mid that will take anyone and spam all day for recruits, so that should not be too hard too, if it's your cup of tea. "He was concerned only with the naked fundamentals of life. The warm intimacies of small, kindly things, the sentiments and delicious trivialities that make up so much of civilized men's lives were meaningless to him. A wolf was no less a wolf because a whim of chance caused him to run with the watch-dogs. Bloodshed and violence and savagery were the natural elements of the life Conan knew; he could not, and would never, understand the little things that are so dear to civilized men and women." |

I agree with everything Ivann says EXCEPT his first statement about making an SB as your first toon being a fail. I understand what he is saying and what he explains afterwards is all true, but many people start with their first toons being a stealther of some sort and do just fine. Is it tough? Hell yah, but its doable. I had my ranger to 50 and 4L2+ before I ever made any other toons and it worked out ok for me. Just an FYI, I made a bard and BM as my next 2 toons so I could have good raid classes to support my ranger.
I would agree that if I was to do it again from scratch, I would do as Ivann said. Make a group/raid toon, lvl either armorcrafting or tailoring up as a salvager, then once that toon gets to 50 give him a decent cheap template. After that is all done make your stealther/solo toon and while you are leveling it keep your eyes open for any groups looking for raid classes. Go on as many raids as you can and save up all you can because ANY solo toon on this game will require a very good template with charges and it will also probably require running with pots as well which add up over time. |

a good healer is always in demand. *hint hint* -- everyone loves a healer.
