I think its important to make this thread to disprove a lot of false presumptions, rumors and inexperience (especially from those trying to give advice about having Hunter, but never having one as good as mine) from the community towards new players and continuing players who want to play and level a Hunter.

For starters, Hunters ARE NOT gimp/nerfed/weak/sickly creatures. Although I, and other Hunters, may frequently feast on low RR Stealthers and decide to group/duo/trio over soloing, that does not make us any lesser than solo stealthers. I and others do so because we simply don't typically have the capability to spam viper 3 lifebanes on our enemies (dexx/goemon/others) nor do we get a easy winning side style w/ higher bow and dual wield defensive and offensive perks (Ronia/Zacknafein/others).

But, we can solo just fine.

For example: I swing for 280+95 for my anytime draw out sword style (with a 2hander) and 250+65 with my Pyroclasmic Legendary Spear. The damage increase 20 to 30% when I use either back styles from the Sword or Spear Line.

I solo'd Croaw, the 7L3 Infi last night face to face in all out melee. Her lifebanes got me in the end, but she died also .

I often find myself best suited as a duo or trio buddy with some SB's, so consider that your best option as a future Hunter.

I spoke to the Abydos 2 months ago about Hunters and the only bug/patch he mentioned that needed to be fixed was hunter pet dps. It apparently needs to match Ranger's DA (Damage Add) buff.

Keep in mind, when I run around AMG I am fully buffed from my base buffs / charges / barrels, which makes it possible for me to do as well as I do. I've critted ramboz with my 2handed sword and swung for 550+ dps! So, dont underestimate the benefit of buffs. (yes I have a body neck, get one too!) (And yes, rangers get a str base buff and DA buff. Uthgard staff have yet to balance this for hunters, they really don't care about hunter v. ranger balance)

Yes, it is possible to play a hunter in this server, but 1vs1 hunters and scouts are significantly weaker than other stealthers.

Think about it, what makes other Bow-classes OP/different than Hunter?

The Ranger have buffs and DW.
the Scout has shield.
The Hunter has pet.

So if you fix the major bugs (that effect ALL classes) than you got some equal Chars.
Pet with dmg for Hunters (buff counts on pet!) 2-Hand dmg with defense-pen and higher dmg.
Shield not extremley gimped versus others.

I saw a Scout killing a equal RR Warrior (Dioz vs Divin). I now see a Hunter killing Infis with a higher RR (Hunters have PD too, remember).
Yes, Rangers might be a little OP with Buffs ATM (atm=keyword here)
But you have Barrels and Charges to compensate a little for that. Sure they don't have a value like specbuffs, but you will get close too them with your abilities (pet, shield).

I think with the mob-smg fix and the def-pen-fix it will be balanced a lot.

When Edghto released his video, everybody complained about "he's fullbuffed and using all RAs". Well, everyone is fullbuffed and everyone uses his RAs (Viper is just a RA too).

Yes, with barrels/charges I do get my buffs to a competitive level. Me and Zacknafein went at it 1v1 one time and only had 15% hp left from straight melee vs. melee

But, you didn't even address Dual Weild vs. 2hander or the fact that yes, 25% bonus on a self buff helps A LOT.

At all you're one of the few Hunters that decrease the ranger population, thats the point where i'm glad you play a stealther. Maybe you improove your Gameplay later, keep on running Dude.

Well, its unfortunate some of our encounters have been like that. Often times I run if I see I am in a position of weakness, and then I exploit situations I know I can win. Is that not the strategy of war my friend? Good, because I do that quite well!!

I will be trying to do this Arnooagi as you seen yesterday I have officially started my hunter. He is 1/2 a lvl from 40 and I started him 18 days ago. They are a very easy class to level and I also think with all the buffs/charges and goodies this toon will be very viable solo once he gets a decent RR. Do I think they are = to ranger in potency? No, but I think they are comparable. I will be sure to let you know my full thoughts on the class in about 3-4 months when I've had time to actually RvR on him a bit.

I do agree 100% with you on one statement for sure, and that is anyone who says, "Oh, he's running fully buffed w/ a high priced template..." that is what all the good players at AMG do. It doesnt take a genius to figure out that if you are running w/ zero buffs or charges that the person with 3 charges and 3 buffs from barrels will have a distinct advantage. To be honest, my template on my hunter will prolly take longer to farm then getting him to 50. Unfortunately, I dont think that will be an exageration.

I'm excited you are leveling a Hunter Zack, I love the class and I think you will too.

But, I think you will find out what its like first hand fighting stealthers w/ viper 3 w/ out an insta stun (RR5) nor a side style stun. Sure the back spear style is nice, which is why I am experimenting with spear atm, also due to the fact that some spears are thrust while others are slash gives me the ability to swap damage types.

You do realise the same method I employ to get my side stun off on the ranger will work for the back stun on spear right? Its also the same as the run through leviathen by reavers. I think the key will be using a fast spear rather then a slow spear tho. Thank you for the offer on the help. I think I will be ok, its just going to take me a month or 2 of doing taj2 to get everything I need.
