The only dual weilding stealth class that can self buff with dex/qui AND a damage add on an already high dexterity race and class, which can spec thrust weapons (dependent on dex), has access to any time stun in melee (oh sorry, a 'side style' <wink wink>), access to Ignore Pain, Physical Defense, and can even hit from long range?
Why would anyone QQ about rangers? |

Ask yourself that. [3:10pm] <myrmidon^> You have to be a c*** to be awesome at daoc
[3:10pm] <myrmidon^> that's what I learnt [3:11pm] <Frosty_> then why does austerim suck

Well, rangers even think twice before engaging my bd in duo. There are counter classes to rangers, assasins arent one of them. Asassins on the other hand only got very few weaknesses, rangers got tons. |
Does your BD have MoS?
Visible classes, with no way to detect stealth, are not a counter for any stealth class. The Ranger has no true counter on this server.

Thats not entirely true Seyha, I get popped out of stealth about every night from classes with spammable AoE's. Zai has popped me multiple times around AMG while he is running around spamming his AoE. I'm not saying its a 100% effective strategy to kill rangers, but it does have its uses. If you are referring to what stealther class is the answer to a ranger I would say it would be a very high RR and well played assasin, and unfortunately even then they would have to encounter the ranger with camo down. However, I want to stress that their will always be a top dog in the stealther war. When the Old RA's come rangers will be a complete joke and NS's and Inf's will rule the stealther world. Since assasins cant' detect other assasins they would not have a stealther "counter" as you put it either. The counters to ranger are SM's, friars, BD's, skalds or thanes if played really well, and very well played heavy tanks w/ shield like merc/warrior. Yes, none of those are stealthers, but a minstril can also give us a hell of a run for our money if all their toy's are up.

1st- There are many dual wielding classes across the realms (merc/inf/sb/savage...) and they all can use d/q charges or pots and most have access to classes that are also high in dex. 2nd- Thrust weaopns are dependant on dex AND strenght. Not many classes that have high of both. Its usually either dex or str, not both. 3rd- NS's have access to that same stun- Inf's have a anytimer low end usage/high dmg/high bleed frontal style- reavers/hunters can do the same method to pull off the side stun to pull off rear styles (stun for hunter and leviathan for reaver) so lets not make it seem like were the only class to use this. 4th- IP/PD/Range attack- All things that can be done by hunters and scouts. Next QQ please.... |

Zac, you don't need to make excuses for your class. If you're tired of Ranger QQs then do what Add did and roll your own Edgtho. You said you wanted to play a Hunter. I'll help.
A class can not counter you if they can't find you. Its that simple. If you get popped by an aoe near amg then its your own fault. It doesn't mean you got countered. Its not the same as being ambushed by another stealther and you know it. If you see a BD or SM then you have the option NOT to attack. They can't force you to engage.
Well, when you do engage you cannot win as a ranger vs bd. Thats why they don't attack :> Also, by your own logic hunters got no counters either, you can always sit and chill around in camo, with the option of not engaging anything. To take it even further, I guess the only counters at all is twf3 bd/warden/reaver, since if no one goes out, they arent weak vs anything. |
And if they don't attack you, then how do you counter them? ^^
I see your point, but its still possible to be detected while in camo. I often bump into camouflaged Rangers and Scouts when I am in a high traffic area (DF, amg, mpk). There is no way to intentionally avoid this--if it happens, it happens (except, like you say, by not going out). It is however possible to avoid AoE unless you are unlucky or just not paying attention. My definition of a counter is a class that can deliberately search out and engage another class and has a strong chance of winning. Your BD can't force a combat with a stealther. If they want to avoid you, they will avoid you.
Anyone can avoid anything, thats the point. You cannot rule out classes because people choose not to engage you, they choose not to engage you because they will lose horribly. Otherwise they would engage = counter class. |
Hm every ranger that is below rr7-8 is easy rp if he has not all RA up, and its a fair to easy (depends on proc/evade luck) fight. Okay they have PD that reduce my weapon damage to a crap amount, but as a high counter i spam viper with every swing, so every 1,6 sec 220+ damage |
How exactly can you avoid being engaged as a visible with no speed or anything like that?
