Hi all, returning player here. I am leveling up an SB and havent bothered to autotrain stealth. Question is before I jump into the post level 25 exp grind, have I totally gimped my SB by not autotraining stealth?

Not really- but it would be good to have those extra points anyway :)

Thanks for the reply, but I was looking for a bit more detail. If the experienced SB's out there generally agree that by not autotraining I will ruin my level 50 RvR experience, then I would consider starting a new SB and autotrain. My current SB is level 27 so I do have some time invested, but before I invest a lot more time in grinding and farming a template, I figured I would find out just how much of a difference autotraining stealth will make to my endgame...

well, with auto training you gain an additional 77 points to spend at level 48.5+.

If you think that its going to make a massive difference then go for it!

with autotrain you can spec this:

35 Axe
35 LA
39 CS
35 Stealth
35 Envenom

it gives you most of the styles SB's use and keeps your min/max damage quite high. Without autotrain you have to do this:

34 Axe
34 LA
39 CS
35 Stealth
35 Envenom

as you see, not a massive difference and the +1 to Axe just raises your damage cap by 9 i believe and the +1 LA reduces the variance by a similar amount.

EDIT** with auto train, you pretty much have to run as a shadowzerk until 48 because your stealth will suck. You also wont be able to climb walls and upset clothies in the BGs as they'll see you a mile away.

also bear in mind that the spec above is for RR5, and is not the only viable choice but is more a jack-of-all-trades.

you can spec for CS to 50 for a higher PA damage, or forgo envenom completely for increase base damage, its up to you

There are many SB's on this server who know much more about it than i do.

Are SB's a viable option for solo pvp?

SBs need autotrain...its already hard enough for Sb to compete with other stealthers...and without autotrain and below rr5 you will have a VERY hard time.

True, you dont need to specc weapon very high here cuz Weaponskill is broken, but you need it for a low dmg variance.

I lvled my sb with full at and its totally worth it ( I lvled when respeccs were way cheaper than now and respecced for every BG and played it to rp cap - then respecced again to continue at ).

Sb has many drawbacks compared to other stealthers already...and even with full at you will have less skillpoints than a infi for example...you shouldn waste them

OK, thanks for the feedback, I will have a think to see if I can stomach the grind to autotrain an SB, without a buffbot... its a lot of grinding....

It is no problem to level for you espacially in Midgard, since you ll level mostly in pure DPS Cele grps. You ll be very welcome as a SB in those groups.

First time that i hear such things...
Every Grp pervers a Zerker or Savage instead of an SB as DPS, but ofc if u heal enough a SB can do the same job.

lvling a sb with AT is prolly the easiest class you can do it on (ok, NS and Infi are similar). Just spec Weapon LA and Evenom and it will be a piece of cake. If you can somehow grab a shaman or healer buddy along the way you lvl just as fast as any other melee class.
