Spec:
50 Bow 46 Spear 34 BC RAs (8L6): Det 5 Aug Dex 5 Purge 1 PD 1 LW 1 With this spec I get the blue con dog, Penetrating Arrow III (useful against warden and theurg groups I guess), and the complete back chain on spear. With the RAs I get ~15% more damage on bow, and Purge 1 for NS. Thoughts? edit: swapped some RAs

are you serious?

No. I'm bored of the stealther grind, but I don't feel like leveling a group toon because that's boring too. This is something for late night and early morning PuG vs. PuG that I will play for a week before respeccing.

You might want to rethink that a little bit.
50 bow will not let you penetrate bt, unless something have changed recently ![]() The 30 d/q buff is the same value as dq charge, and less than shaman's yellow dq buff ![]() Dex5 will be worse than dex4 + a combo of mop and fe as well. Not to forget that even with high spear you will do a lot more damage with bow. Tbh 35 bow + 50 bc might do more damage then 50 bow + 30 bc. (Test it and tell me how it goes ![]() {50 bc is +93, and red shaman sc is +86 for reference} With 50 bc, it is np to backstun, and critshot in group play ![]() |

Penetrating arrow III gives your shots a chance to penetrate pulsing BT for 100% damage. I have seen it work on Uthgard. I do not know what the chance to penetrate is. Maybe a member of the staff could answer this question?
As a member of the group I would expect to receive the shaman d/q buff.
FE is a problematic RA because you can't critical on a crit shot, and in group vs. group crit shot will be my primary damage ability since it has the highest DPS against casters who must stop to use their spells. I'm shooting for 600-900 damage against cloth which is a pretty good spike for this server. I will not be joining the assist train (normally) so MoP is a waste.
Slightly better, yes, but 50 bow + yellow sham buff is even better than that. Thanks for the tips. I am considering taking spear down to 39.

from my pov as shamy, NOPE ! in a normal midsetup, u will count as kinda tank for me, this means : endu s/c OR d/q spec. also i would chance the dex5 to 4 and put some mor crit or pain into. this is the way i would start as first (4) Augmented Dexterity (1) Long Wind (2) Physical Defense (3) Falcon's Eye (5) Determination (1) Purge

You mean I can't have it both ways? ![]() One compromise would be 45 bow 40 BC, and take the s/c buff.

50 Sword for Ragnarok spamm.
39 Spear 32 BC for pet rupt 30 Bow for range rupt imo. |
|
No need to test it, I can tell you with 100% certainty you will do more dmg by raising your d/q buff then you will by spec'ing 50 bow. I tested it on my ranger a long time ago and higher d/q buff will allow for much more dmg then higher bow spec. If you spec higher bow you will only be doing so for higher end volley, higher end penetrating arrow, and faster rapid fire. |

Interessting spec. Nice Splitspec for max dmg-output. But since you "only" have det5 I would have a little bow skilled for dmg-rupt. Also Critshot isn't useful at all in a grpfight since your target has to stand fixed. If you don't want to splitspec, the ebst grpspec is either: 50 Sword/Spear, 32BC, rest Bow (48 Bow) or 48 Spear, 50 Bow, 32 BC You will be the far distance rupt of a grp most of the time, so Bowspec and dmg will be good for here. So a mix of Shamanbuffs and high Bowspec seems to be quite nice. With 50 Sword you will burst out some pretty good dmg in Meele too. If you only plan to rupt and make dmg from distance you might consider as well: 50 BC, 45/50 Bow, rest weapon. For RAs: Det5 Purge 1 Either dex 4 + FE 3 + MoPain 2 or dex 5 + FE 1 Your range is you friend. Rupt Casters+Druids with good damage or Rapid Fire |

Not so. I land crit shots quite often in group fights. Support must stop to cast. Casters must stop to cast. Any form of CC (even snare) makes the target vulnerable to a crit shot. The hard part is knowing when it is best to stop rupting with Rapid Fire and switch to a crit shot.

Good Point, didn't thought of that. What do you think about my posted specs? |
|
I think they are all worth trying if you don't mind spending the respec stones.
![]() I think 50 weapon on a Hunter is a waste, especially for group fights. If you want to join the assist train, roll a Zerk or a War or a Skald. 39 Spear gives you the most utility possible for a Hunter; back-stun and a 14s snare. Not great but useful in a pinch. I see the Hunter as a rupt machine that can deal decent spike damage to casters and support, is self-reliant in melee (you can kill your own Theurg pets, for example), can join the assist train when cele is up for extra DPS, and can stun or snare if necessary. My spec is intended to maximize this role. But it's all theory. ^^
