So getting kinda tired of Mid. I was playing a Pac Healer that also had Celerity so I would get constant tells from people asking if I was in a group yet even if I wasnt actively looking for a group. Whats the Alb version of this? Cleric can heal and buff but they dont have anything OP like power regen or celerity. Sorc has the power regen, run speed, demez, and mez but I assume you only need 1 of them in a group. Earth Theurg seems nice for PBT but then Im basically just an AFK bot. I enjoyed being on CC duty so maybe Sorc is right for me, I dont know. I just suck at being proactive and making groups so what class will get me invited to someone else's group all day long?

For xp : paladin
For rvr : not paladin i guess ? :)

Sorc seems to be the best choice for your playstyle, but you should know, sorc is very popular.
/who sorc is actually surprising sometimes. Not as much as /who necro but ... alot.

We are never going to not want sorcs around. I think that would be a good choice, you may also really like a minst.

/who Healer was about the same but everyone runs 2 or even 3. Do 8 mans run double Sorcs?

As many people have said: Paladin is THE class everybody is looking for on Alb. This is mainly because of the huge amount of Melee groups needing the endurance chant. As a result, many groups are inviting a pally 5-10 levels lower than what they need JUST because there are no pallys around on their level range and a pally is needed so bad.

Before jumping on the Pally however, here is something to consider.

Most, if not all PVE groups will need only 1 Paladin ( and only 1 sorc for that matter). What you need a lot of, is melee dmg for the a.m. setup. That is

Merc
Inf
Arms (kind of)
Friar
Reaver

It is my experience that MDPS groups need at least ~3 MDPS for their setup to make sense. The Prime choice here is merc, with the other options working more or less as well. WIth that being said, there are ALWAYS people asking for MDPS replacements or simply MDPS to fill their groups. The advantage of picking MDPS is that your position in RVR will be a little less ambivalent as the Paladins.

Good luck with your choice!

WE discussed this in guild the time it takes to get a necro 1-50 you could probably manage to get the class you want to play to 50 in the same time. Also with a necro / cabalist you got to rely on someone else with a cabalist / necro to powerlevel your alt.

I will admit having gold and support is handy to levelling but then again you can end up missing the boat with friends if they have rolled classes they want to play and your still dallying around on an necro farming all day and powerleveling everyone else.

I went with paladin because I like the class I wish I had gone sorc or cleric but nearly 50 I got alts I play but I'm glad I don't have a necro I think good class but you need SI to spread you guys out a lot more at the moment too many necros killing the same types of mobs.

PvM = non AT s/s Paladin (if you want have some value vor RvR, go for 44 thrust)
- Our pala is permanently anon because he gets a blue wall of sends, even offers with 100g+/h.

RvR = Minstrel
- Many prefer sorc in PvM group setups, therefore minstrels get quite ignored in PvM and are missing in endgame RvR.

Don't play the char you think will get you groups play the char you will enjoy to play either solo grouped pve pvp. if you try to play to the whim of other players you wont be happy.

No point saying I'm going to roll a paladin because they get groups only to find in pve your mezzed 99% of the time or stunned and unable to enjoy yourself, likewise don't roll a support char if you hate healing.

I myself like "alternative" specs earth wizards / air thuergs / body sorcs / spirit cabalists.

Sometimes being different can provide you with more fun than following cookie cutter builds.

But friends don't let friends roll avalonian paladins ... or painworking necromancers :D

think i might go pally. had one on Live I enjoyed and if they are needed for leveling that makes it easier for me to get some exp. I know they have their problems (1k chant range) but Im sure those will get sorted out eventually.

paladin will be grouped permanently. you'll probably go anon once you get grouped or you'll just keep getting tells. they are however not offered groups in rvr nearly as much.

theurg with pbt is another great option. helps the melee dps groups a lot. best pug xp groups I was in had pally, theurg, cleric, sorc, 4 melee.

I get chain invited to groups, literally, i'll be in a group and get invited to another group. I've even been bribed gold to go to another group... but no that's not how it works for me. With that said, there are some pretty DUMB groups out there so you actually get to pick and choose your groups. Seriously, if you're the DPS and nobody specifically said, Hey we need you to pull, then don't pull.... because there's a reason someone isn't pulling at that specific moment. Just because you got end doesn't mean it's time for a pull, I mean, cleric could be AFK, I could be afk, entire group except you could be AFK, I could be playing solitare on the other screen... this happens... sometimes.

Wouldn't advise Paladin as you won't get RvR groups. You'll spend a lot of time and money to get to 50 to be essentially nothing but a PvE raider.

I don't know why the devs chose such a horrible patch as their goal, but I'm sure they have their reasons. Midgard is definitely the preferred realm in this patch, even if it is easy mode.

There's a lot wrong with maining a paladin. Of course you'll have your pick of exp groups, especially after level 32, and may even get invited to some high 40s or 50 groups. But at the end of the day, you'll be forgotten and useless, especially since SI zones aren't even implemented, yet. 1.65 certainly doesn't work without SI.

Furthermore, this server won't thrive without some common sense changes, like Paladins getting determination, and improved endurance range. Removed see hidden, things like that. And the Devs have mentioned they're absolutely opposed to "custom changes" whatever good sense dictates.

If you want to play a tank, play an Armsman. Or you could play a Reaver. They have the same problem as Paladins, but broken styles and excellent for 1v1 scenarios.

If you want RvR groups, I'd suggest Armsman or Mercenary.

Otherwise, if you want spammed for groups, play a sorc, theurgist, cleric. Mercs and Arms are desirable for PvP and PvE.

Of course, if all you want to be is a PvE hero, then Paladin is a fine choice! But your ceiling hits fast.

For pve you can do the math, when there are twice as many sorcs as paladins online in your level range (regular occurance), half of the sorcs wont get a group, because groups want one each. Ive just made it to 50 on mine, but I solo'd a lot, and Ive organized groups a lot. Definately not a class that will get spammed with group invites in my experience.

In rvr at least some groups will run 2 sorcs, so thats a bonus.
