Yet, also wanting to build a good pve solo tank spec for farming them Diiiiiiiiiiiiiaaaaaaaaaaamoooooooonnnnnnnnnnds!!!

I'd ask the paladin forum, but the board is slower than molasses.

I'm autotraining slash (because thrust is for nances), so I'm going to come out with 77 freebie points.

Base spec I was planning on (with points left over):

48 chants (for last armor chant, although I'm debating if it's needed or not)
42 Shield (Mandatory)
29 Slash (Minimum not maximum)
X Two Handed (Possibility)
X Parry (Possibility)

I have a few questions:

Is 48 chants worth the investment?
With the extra point, is raising shield up to 50 worth it?
If I don't raise shield to 50, how much of a defensive boost is 30+ Parry?
Should I consider raising slash higher to increase accuracy to hit 50 composite with 15+ from RR?
Should I consider a hybrid build of 34-35 2h to run in 8 mans (don't care if it isn't super competitive)?

Thanks your time my dearies.

Id say the armor chant isnt worth it
34 slash and high parry is
2h is no real option in 8man , cuz u will fill the role of slambot, guardbot n ruot with taunt while passing a casting class.

I like that u r willing to rvr too
All that "endupot > pala" n "no slot for pala in 8man" is ... idk

If u play ur role well, get RR and have a good grp u will be demzzed and have purge for root like every other class besides det-tanks too
Better a well played pala/friar/reaver thn having an idiot-wannabeL33T-arms/merc... u just need to work with the benefits these classes will grant u...

I would suggest to try the follow spec:
46 Chants (All needed chants, except last AF chant, which is ok to miss)
42 Shield (Slam, 'nough said)
39 Slash (You can cap almost from the go, composite 51 @RR2)
23 Parry (If you AT Slash till 48)

This is for me the best all around spec for RvR and PvE.

42 shield
42 chant
39 2h
30 slash (with at slash)

very viable rvr spec imo

2h offers so much utilty with side+back snare, its a much better peeler spec than any pure shield build

This is a very interesting discussion. Has any performed any testing with regards to additional damage from 2H. is it worth the loss in Chants and added Snare?

Paladins were good among top 8v8 guilds back in the day on Nimue, regardless of the "knowledge gap."

My money is on the fact that people will play around the lack of det, as they did in the old days.

It'll just be a different obstacle to overcome.

I like the 2h spec a lot for the utility, but I'm wondering if that's left for a character who ATs both slash and chants, whereas I've only AT'd slash.

Does the 2h snare break on damage is my biggest question?

Yes all melee snares should break on damage. The only exception is the RA prevent flight which should not break on damage.

If memory serves, 46 ch, 42 shield, 29 slash, rest in parry makes for an all round defensive juggernaut...hard to kill even when afk! ;)
