Hello community,
I played daoc many years ago and now I decided to start here on Uthgard. I've always used as the reaver class, what I intend to do even now. I want to know what is the current situation about the reaver at level 50 and hoping in replies from some experienced players, Thanks. |

1 reaver in a grp is fine, nice slambot + levi ofc does some nice dmg
but anyway id prefer a merc, cutz his dmg in grp is better ![]() Don't argue with idiots - they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. |
|
its a matter of taste ofc
but ye i agree to cover e.g. a runemaster or eld you need a merc with charge etc but reaver is really nice dmg ![]() |

Thanks for replies.
Im not experienced in RvR so my question is, what's the reaver role in the RvR? Snare/Slambot enemies are attacking the casters? Damage dealer? Each example will be appreciated.. |

I d say Reaver is with assist train and slams targets, then levi or levis running peeps or when rooted rupts casters/healers....
The classic slam/guard/peelbot would be a pala in Albion. Ex-Albion-Logres: Bogner [Sankaras Erben] and co Ex-Camlann: Dirtymind [FEAR] and Stinkerle ![]() |

depends on how you play ofc, sometimes its nice to have the reaver go def(hard dmg) and the pala go off (endu for tanks at the front) depends ofc if you kite or push and on the rr of the reaver(mob2-4 is pretty late in rr while pala can get it straight after det) lets put it this way, i think no other tank can do as much dmg as the reaver when he comes to leviing, but he doesn't have stoicism(25% less cc time) which makes him more vulnarable to mezz/root, (resi 50% det 55% ~78,5% reduce)[effective 16s on a single mezz/root] unless like a merc (resi 50% stoi25% det 55% ~83% cc time reduce, + charge (cc immunity))[effective 8s on a single mezz/root] somethings messed up in my calculations though maybe i check again later. the point is though, depending on your setup ofc the role you fulfill as a reaver. beeing an offensive reaver makes him not as effective as a passive reaver imo as you get cced alot(as passive you can preassurre tanks or too hard pushing bards/healer/druid, mostly without risking cc) Malicious gossip has it that reaver can just stick anything regardless and just put dmg and eventually it can't be outhealed anymore. if you kite, you kinda are like a rubber ball first, helping the pala to slam everyone and guard if needed, and hope you arent getting rooted(mezzed not that big of a deal sorc can demezz you) and than once you helped your grp free, assisting with caba/sorc on targets and kill them even if you are pushing you can play the same role but more akwardly. Depends on the group. if albs are extending (which is 90% of groups). the reavers job is to stick the enemy charge tanks and levi them down. they are also the second guard tank for when the enemy train split assists. they also hit the pac healer and shammy pushing in with interupts and slam+levi. but that happens about 20 seconds later after the killing of the first goober enemy to charge in too far. pushing in vs enemy support is a waste of time on a reaver. enemy in the back arent going to be able to heal extended tanks anyways. kill the easy pickings first, then push in when the fight is 8v5.
reaver can be rendered useless too easily with cc if they push in against an enemy group. they have great interupts if allowed to run around free. but any group worth considering a strategy against will cc you 3+ times in a fight. det4 or det 5 helps, but not enough to make reaver valid in pushing. also lacking charge means as soon as someone has a 2 step lead on the reaver they can permasprint away. |

wrong, asp has a realy nice range, but i rarely see anyone useing it, levi is more dmg ofc but using it as backup when someone runs aways is usually a good idea ![]() |

oh asp is lovely. when somethign is out of levi range you can still get another asp or two off. and the growth rate is huge.
but it too has a range and doesnt snare. so you still end up with targets getting away unless you can get them below 30% health to snare them that way. particuarly against something like a shammy where you are permadiseased, reaver gets frustrating without a merc to get the job done. on the bright side. as long as the target has to keep running from you, they arent casting. but sadly when push group meets push group, your clerics will die a lot faster vs 5 enemy push tanks than any alb group with 3-4 tanks can put out in dmg. so the mid support is more than happy to never cast a single heal if your clerics dont either. |
