Is spirit resist really necessary? I looked over all the mid and hib casters and it seems only one has a spirit based damage spell, and that is the spirit master's pbaoe spells. I don't really see those in RvR, so is it ok to gimp it or not in a template?

Usually it shouldn't be needed to gimp a resist on Uthgard unless in some rare occasions

however looking at the resist list it seems like SM mez and pbaoe is only serious spirit threats you have.. so dropping it a few points shouldn't be too bad as long as you stay away from SMs as much as possible just in case

Here is a template I have so far. I had spirit resists in the SC and was missing some other things. I removed them and now I have this. I got the items from the thread that shows good template items. I might be able to fit in spirit if I rework the jewelery and maybe use some items not in the thread that I don't know about.

what do you need 11 soulrending and 75 piety for? you using crazy items and a mp quality armor to get that and its completely useless, and even if there is 1 sm every 50 chars out there,the spirit resist would be more useful than that imo (even if i believe that spirit res can be left to zero) to dont mention that all the procs on weapons are spirit as somebody already said.

I have a Reaver template with 99 armor and easy items all cap (no piety no soulrending) if you need.

I run with 18% spirit and plan on lowering it by further 9% if I get my hands on a better ring. I've had noone kill me with a spirit based spell or proc yet. Just an unneeded frustration in creating a "perfect" template.

While I would say that SR and piety is not NECESSARY, it is good if you can fit it in. Id take piety over spirit resist in this enviornment.

Piety will:

Give you a larger mana pool. When I played my reaver, I used power. Abs/Dps debuff is freaking great, and pulsing DD to unstealth people prowling around was most common source of usage. Also the insta taps and proc are affected by piety. The tap more than the proc obviously. Also soul quench has been PROVEN by many people to get a fairly large increase in damage from piety. When I added only 43 piety to my reaver temp on live, I noticed a difference. If you are going through the trouble to max/min your template, get piety first, and SR if you have really nothing else.

I want piety and sr to maximize my life tap spell.

The template Eddie posted could be used as a starter temp.

Anyways, here is want I managed to come up with, hopefully I don't have any items messed up this time.

That means you have a total of 15 souldrending, 6 crush/thrust/slash, 14 flex, 14 shield. You can easily drop the dragon melee ring because it's useless to you atm. When I get home I'll take a shot at a cheap reaver template and post it here.

Many pieces of your armor are 4 pt overcharged, thats a waste! Again you are using 2 dragon rings... gl with them
if you wanan cap piety and soulrending at all costs then you might wanna use the dragon chest as well then, nice proc (heal) and good utility, much cheaper then rings.
