Hello everybody,

It's been years since I'v played, but after hearing about freeshards and an older version of DAoC I want to have some fun after years of playing different MMORPGs not matching the fun I had with DAoC.

Anyways, while downloading the client I'v been trying to figure out what I'm going to do. I'm thinking of having two characters. A cabalist for PvE/Farming, and a Reaver main.

I want to be viable in RvR, but I don't have any experience with nor much memory of Albion. The Reaver class sounds fun, but will I end up regretting it at 50 trying to get into RvR?

After looking around the 50 Flex, 42 Shield, 41 Soulrending spec looks good (if I understand it correctly that's with auto-training the flex line), but have seen others say decreasing Soulrending spec points and raising parry for better defense outweighing the extra % returned from the life drain. Anyone have any RvR/Reaver experience to give me some input?

Thank you for your time in reading my post. ^^

Edit: I thought to do a search after I posted and found information on Reaver spec'ing and auto-training, but would still like to hear about RvR.

Welcome :)

Take as much soulrending as you can get (either with or without autotrain). Reavers don't need parry imo. I want my Reaver to block and as parry is checked before block, it parries the chance for block. So after all parry is a bad thing for me ;)
My Albion:

Chars: 50 Minstrel, 50 Infiltrator, 50 Paladin, 50 Reaver, 50 Theurgist, 50 Scout, 50 Friar, 50 Sorcerer, 50 Cleric, 50 Wizard, 50 Mercenary, 48 Cabalist, 48 Armsman

Crafting: LGM Alchemist, LGM Armorcrafter, LGM Tailor, LEG Spellcrafter, LEG Weaponcrafter, LEG Fletcher

Correct - for a reaver you wanna spec soul + something not flex or slash while leveling if you want autotrain

ps. Welcome

New as well and I think already the groups I have had from levels 1-9 already have matched and surpassed all the other MMORGPs I played after DAOC.

This server is the way it should have stayed.

i am a new player to the server also and what a breath of fresh air this classic rule set is with old skool lvling and grps that i thought i would never witness again :)

the fact uthgard hits the server cap almost every night with very little old daoc players even knwoing about free shards breeds hope of bigger servers and more population that daoc live in the future? :P

i just hope the rvr isnt laggy currently my friar is lvl 29 so not to long till brae then i can lvl my scout for some of fun :)

England, unless something is different than the way AT worked on live, that wont work. If you spec an AT line, you stop getting free points. If you then respec that line, it puts you to the AT level you WOULD have achieved, and uses your spec points to do it, despite not getting them from AT.

Reaver lifetap proc doesnt work right. See Support section for logs proving this.

Since the lifetaps and auras are not on 2 seperate timers like on live, you want the highest one available, thus AT is a good idea. 41 level vs 32(I think) lifetap means more damage, more life, and less resists. (Resists being the more important of the 3, as the damage and life returned is only going to matter in a very small % of your fights)

Crush is an outstanding line to spec while leveling to AT with. At spec level 15 you get a 2 step 6 second anytime stun.

Be sure to bring your "Lag tolerance" meds with you... some nights its great, and rvr is manageable.... other nights its like watching powerpoint and praying you are actually doing something between the slides.

Reavers are good in end game rvr. slam + levi + twf is quite strong. Biggest drawback compared to merc is no stoicism.

Level with crush or thrust, single line respec to flex at lvl 48+. Parry should have very low priority compared to soulrending.
