Hello, i got a lvl 39 frair,
spec 36 staff, 30 ench and 4 parry :P
RR 1L9
Im fully SC'ed and capped (Armor and weapon) but yet i can only just about solo a orange mob! i have been playing frairs from early days of daoc and nerver have a i seen a lvl 39 frair suck so much even with crappy items.

Anyone got any ideas? or just frairs are just silly under powered on this server and i should just /delete?

Delete it.

Even wardens without shield specc are far more useful than a friar.

right now uthgard use new RA...and new RA´s do not have Dodger

and about the style...it was back-based at the patch uthgard is using (uthgard using 1.80).

better get backgroud-knowledge befor complaining...

friars r only usefull in solo rvr, which is as rare as rubies n uthgard ^^

therefore delete that char :D if u want 2 make dmg, make a merc, if u want to heal ur mates, make a cleric

Don't argue with idiots - they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Your spec is gimp, that's why. :P

A battle friar hardly depends on his buffs so I would play to level 40 and respec there to:

Enhancement 35
Staff 29
Reju 15
Parry 7

with a level 50 spec of:
Enhancement 46 (last Dex/qui and last fire-resis as your leather armor is vulnerable to fire)
Staff 44 (for WS and possibility for a side stun)
Reju 15 (at least some healing and no complete ghetto rezz)
Parry 8

friar is a pretty strong pve solo char!
my friar is lvl 48 atm and i can handle 2 essence shredders (red con) paralell with about 50% health left.

my spec at lvl 48 atm
staff 37
enhance 45
reju 18
rest parry

the friar starts to shine after lvl 40 (u want the yellow selfbuffs. absorb dex/qui).
go respec at lvl 40.
the spec eisbaer suggested sounds very nice.

Something very important just came to my mind:

Get a decent staff! Very important! Any crafted staff with quali 98%+ that cons orange to you will do. Also do not forget to but the Bonus on your staff.

Your armor can be green, no problem. Just try to get armor parts that boost your stats and - if possible - at least your crush resist to the cap.

This is exactly the spec I am considering for my Friar.

haha funny to read strange comments and advices, like that ones by Der_Eisbaer. talking without trying on their own on uthgard ftw :D
i played rr8 friar on uthgard so if u want my unimportant opinion:
friar is weak on grp rvr. but its rly strong, maybe the strongest one in 1v1 on uthgard. got an awesome defense and deal good dmg (oc if u got decent specc, not that strange speccs u got told to specc ^^). its also usefull on pvm if u like that knd of daoc^^
only skill specc and ra matters.
play ur friar, atleast in bgs its fun since many ppl think u r a caster and u pull them out of heal range and kill em :D
but if u prefer grp rvr, i rly would try another char, as dominique said.. for healing: cleric, for dmg merc or reaver
