Hey all,

been awhile since I've played live (probably about 2 and a half years), recently found Uthgard and have been having a nostalgic blast leveling up the old fashioned way

I have a few questions, mostly about the best way to level my sorcerer. So far I've been pumping body and just nuking things to death, and this is working, but I feel like there are probably stronger PvE specs. What would people recommend? Is charming mobs a viable or better strategy? If so, what kind of spec should i use (I could really appreciate the crack, lol), and what kind of mobs/areas are best for leveling this way?

Charm is next to useless while leveling on Uthgard due to it being bugged (can't charm yellow pets).

Just keep enough in Mind so you can have a heal pet (or maybe a blue tank) since your nukes hit for noticeably less with low Body.

a sorc cant charm yellow here? nonsense...
sorc CAN charm yellow mobs here easy, only problem here is that a sorc seems to have the same charming like a minne (means you have to have high mind spec to get high mobs)

my sorc has no problems to charm level 50 pets as he is level 50 (with 46 mind for red pom), and he always get the pets charmed with first try.
and there are various nice nuking pets in the homezone..
dyakanon keep in mind that mobs getting harder at higher level. you might not been able to kill em than befor they reach you. so an assisting pet with cast becomes quite handy.

Yes, I know what I'm talking about. He can't charm yellows like he can on live because the formula for sorc charm is wrong on Uthgard. So yes, it is THEORETICALLY possible, but you won't be able to have a yellow pet if you want to do any sort of normal damage, especially while leveling up because of the +Mind cap and low RR.

go full body or matter till 40 other things will suck on low lvls the charm seems bugged that is my experience with sorc

If I couldn't get xp groups I always looked for some handy pet. That link Nymeros is nice one to start with. A pet that casts a dmg spell and u are good to go.

You can still charm very low lvl healingpets, uber in group. They dont run out of mana or anything.. Keep healing you.

Ghostly Cleric (lvl 14ish) mob can keep you alive at lvl 40 even...

I got my sorcerer to 40+ with full mind spec. I would never ever do it again - it took ages and hurt so much... ^^

Ive leveled my sorc having specced full body. Get enough manaregpots and some instantmanapotions, serenity 3-4 and maybe some instantmanapots(not really neccesary), and you can easily chain down yellow mobs, 8 sec each) with your best specnuke without a downtime.
The fastest way to xp on uthgard, but one of the most boring ones.

OK, xping an ench cleric solo is much worse.

i doubt that.. (play ench(bomb) or matter caba,thats faster..much faster)

I am doing so now... and guess what.
I cna kill 5-6 mobs with focus and many more with dots, but it last very very long. About a minute per run.

In that minute my bodysorc kills 6-8 yellows, and thats nonstop, without any breaks, manaregs, manacasts, etc.
