I do kind of like this last spec. Except I would probably go 50s, 43c, 34cr, 17p

is that crush? why bother with crush, you have slam, crush is weak against chain and it doesn't AT

midchain is neutral to crush and scale is resistant to crush
midchain is resistant to slash and scale is weak to slash

And why doesn't anyone spec 2h? I mean you won't be dealing some awesome damage or anything but you have a nice backsnare and you can still deliver at least acceptable damage when needed.

Finally hit 50 tonight.

My final spec is 48c, 42s, 37cr, 16p

Paladin's are defensive classes. They shouldn't be going 2h, unless you are dumb. The backsnare is useless because Paladin's shouldn't be running around attack other enemies. They should be staying close, guarding/protecting and slamming anything and everything in the area.

You didnt catched the very essence of it.

If u have 42 shield+11itemsbonus and 39 2h. You are even better for defense. Example.

1 Tank your cleric.

yourspec: guard cleric. slam tank. Nice Cleric free.
Same tanks 9sec later again on Cleric. YOU go guard and try slam.
FAIL Tank has stun-immunity for 9sec x5. Very long time where you cannot do anything but running after 1 cleric and guard. While u have more people to protect.

dual spec with 2h: guard cleric. slam tank. Nice Cleric free.
Same tank 9sec later again on Cleric. YOU go guard and try salm.
FAIL Tank has stun-immunity for 9secx5. BUT now you put out your 2h. Backsnare and yell the cleric to RUN. Yay 1-2 hits with your little doombringer. And the cleric is free to kite. That did you cost just ~5sec instead of 45sec guarding.

And a cleric free is better than cleric with add and you blocking the add.

In addition with decent item bonus +11 2h/weaponspec. You do more damage than the 1h palading. Paladin is on the same damagetable as Champion and on uthgard weaponspec beyond 50 has small effect on total damage. BUT that doesnt means YOU HAVE TO go in ASSISTTRAIN.
Thats just an sideaffect and option.

Wow, what a statement. Snarestyles are probably THE most important ability a guarder has apart from guard itself, especially while there's a lot of tankgroups out there. Any paladin not using them should really consider doing so.

jrhadden wrote:BUT now you put out your 2h.

Uhm no, you don't. Seriously, why would you? Upon speccing slash (which imo is the only way to go for a paladin) you'll get Side Slicer which has exactly the same effect as Doubler, a 12 second 30% snare.

If the player you're guarding is standing still, you'd probably be right next to him facing the attacker which is the perfect position to use sidestyles anyway. But if the player you're guarding and therefore the attacker is running away from you, a backstyle would be better ofc. But considering the fact that sidestyles can also be executed from more or less behind (with a little knowledge of Uthgard's melee system that is), spending 779 points (!) just in order to get a single style is really a very bad advice.

2h = snare(much longer than 12sec imho), slash = root (hindered) 100% 12 sec.

thats a difference.

It would be a difference if your statement was correct but it's not.

Lol root, yeah right. It's a 35%(?) snare just like any other snare style.

Enjoy your useless slambots that can't deal damage.

And no I'm not saying paladins are there to deal damage, but being able to help your sorc/cabalist drop an overextender instead of hitting him for 50 sometimes means a lot.

Well ana. First of all.

You expect the cleric to stay still and wait until your done with snare.
For the snarestyle to be effect he needs to run. Droping of snarestyle on target running is much easier with backstyle than with sidestyles.
And maybe the tank is not just stupid and lets u sidestyle ?
And Backstyle are by far easier to use than any sidestyle, so perfectly fitting for any beginner.

Anyway with 2h 39 and 42 slamd and 42 chatns rest weapon, you dont loose much at all. What do you loose red AF Chant? Red dmg add?

ps danger: there is no immunity for style-snare. And there is no root as style.

i play rr8 paladin very often in rvr here, so i might have an overview whats useful in rvr and whats not.
my paladin is hybridspec, 42shield, 39 2h, 42 chants and rest to slash (25 or so^^)
thats in my view the best spec for rvr.but backsnare isnt that op u say. its in 2h line, so even with fast weapon (4,5) u need soem time to snare tanks, i especcialy think about savage's with imba evade where u sometimes need 2-3 tries to snare. but the rly bad thing isnt that u need some time, the bad thing is that u lose gaurd abilitiy.. warrior can easy backsnare with 1h, but for paly its guard OR snare.
but if u go for 1h paly nevertheless, get high chants!
its not for red af chant or red dmg add chant like nes said, its for something more important: resist chant. since most alb grps dont grp a friar, the paladin have to switch teh resist songs. cold song for mdigard, heat song for hibernia.
ps: and ofc u deal more dmg as with 1h spec. nice to finish kills when u for example slam for caster but caster cant kill in stun and tanks runs away high dmged, u can easy chase and kill him than with 2-3 hits and not with 10 hits like 1h pally :D
ps2: sry for bad english, but i think it was understandable

Ofc yellow resis are better than nothing. And no resis will save your from debuff nuker. That needs a cabalist or some root/rupting.
