These numbers are low but casting 3 second spell like the base group heal i see no real difference between 160 and 190 dex.

As Uthgard uses precise floating point calculations and 1ms granularity for casting time you won't see "breaking points" here. Every point invested in Dex will give you a slightly better casting time.

Also see:
Q: Would you please give more detail as to how dex affects a caster?
For instance, I understand that when I have my dex maxed I will cast 25% faster.
How does this work incrementally? And will a lurikeen be able to cast faster in the end than another race?
A: From a dex of 50 to a dex of 250, the formula lets you cast 1% faster for each ten points.
From a dex of 250 to the maximum possible (which as you know depends on your starting total),
your speed increases 1% for every twenty points.
It's done when it's done. Thanks for your patience.

I guess i have to apologize because i believed that breaking points exist here. I flamed so much people when we discussed about if Dex increase castspeed linear or progressive(like breaking points).

So at all people sorry :DDD!

no, certainly i was not  i was never really into the dark age of science. but the people i used to play with were, and i remember how they told me not to invest more points int odex unless i wanna go over xxx (depending on the char). speaking of that, it was e.g. always some kind of common knowledge that elfs should get dex2 right away (in the old days).

but you are probably right if basic knowledge = even the most casual player knows about. but among live setgroup players, this was basic knowledge (although i gotta agree, nobody made a research like that on vn, it was more sticky then explicit knowledge)

but its cool to know that there is no such thing on uthgard. actually like it that way.

So then 250 is the breakpoint for the most efficiency. Thanks.

If you see it this way. Starting with 250 every point is half effective but still every point improves you.

Thank you for your replies in this thread-- it helped me a lot. I have been all over the place making and leveling toons and I don't want to guess anymore since I'm about to ding 40 on my cleric and knowing how I'm going to spec helps a ton.

one more thing:

I got a 50 smiter on uth gotta warn ya: it will suck as hell in end rvr at low rvr...maybe it's a little better with rr5-RA or with like rr7+ when u can have moc3 and stuff without neglecting mana and dmg RAs or purge, but no with 4Lx it is impossible to kill any normal enemies...if you mezz, they purge (5-min purge ftw) and then you're dead basically...won't hit any1 often enough in melee...maybe casters can be killed...but they rarely run solo....IF you run in group: well that might be different...but normal rvr-grps dont pick smiters, so u better have a guild grp or something...

smiter was awesome in BGs, where most ppl only had purge1 or 2 and action was so "fast", that it wasnt up all the time...hardly ever lost 1:1s there...but in end-rvr it is just a waste :(

At 40 I have been killed in df by quite a few assassins. I noticed they purge my mez or my stun. Also if its a hunter if you deal with them you can't cast because of their stupid pet. Yeah it isn't going to be easy but I think it has its own challenges and there is something to setting yourself on a path and playing the cards you are dealt.

But what I don't like is leveling a toon up and then finding out it isn't what I expected.

Also I saw your sig there-- i played a spirit cab most of my daoc experience and that something I tried here only to find that cab and also chanter pets don't buff right. So i wasted some time but i had some fun.

Isn't wasted. Once the buff/damage bugfix is in you're back in business.

And that will be when? =)
When it's done or with fix ETA`? I would LOVE to see that patch coming, so hunters will get a boost (and ofc other petclasses)
