Hi all

Long time player who has come back to the game after a very long absence. I read a few posts here from about year ago on the topic above and found this excerpt from a post

by Kirillow » Thu Apr 28, 2011 9:31 pm

If you know german, I recommend this thread.. Same topic: How to level a sorc.

http://uthgard.net/index.php?option=com ... 10&t=21976

Here's the spec I recommended for solo lvling. I think you get the idea without translating the few german words in there..

Lvl 5 - Alles in Mind --> Mind 5/Matter 1 --> Pom1

Lvl 10 - Alles in Matter --> Mind 5/Matter 8 --> Dots, Dot-Varianz

Lvl 11 - Alles in Mind --> Mind 7/Matter 8 --> Charm 11-20

Lvl 19 - Alles in Matter - Mind 7/Matter 17 --> 16er Dot und erster Snare DD

Lvl 21 - Alles in Mind --> Mind 12/Matter 17 --> Charm 21-30

Lvl 23 - Alles in Mind --> Mind 15/Matter 17 --> Pom2

Lvl 29 - Alles in Matter --> Mind 15/Matter 24 --> 23er Dot und zweiter Snare DD

Level 32 - Alles in Mind --> Mind 20/Matter 24 --> Charm 31-40

Going on with Matter till 40, then respec to your desired Body/Mind-Specc..

Does this still hold true for sorcs? Also is the Sorc charm still buggy? will i be able to charm same level mobs without having mind at level?

Pet on stay, put some distance between yourself and the pet, release, kill, charm new.

The group that runs up against them can't kill them fast enough because smite clerics have sooooooo many tools at their disposal combined with decent ranged damage with 8 of them dudes doing it!

If you are solo most of the time, you can spec body/mind to xp.
With my caba (tri spec since lvl 30), sometimes i tank the mobs myself, using the pet for extra damage. It's as efficient as focus when i'm alone.
1. Send your pet on target.
2. Start drain immediatly -> u take the aggro, the mob will not hit your pet, even if you are out of range and your pet is on the mob.
3. Since you don't deal enough damage, you will have to finish the mob with your staff, loosing sometimes half of your life.
4. Next mob, start again. The drain will get back your life up.

You can use spec drain or base drain depending on their level

Thanks for the info everyone. So far the guide has been working nicely and charming mobs of my level isnt an issue.

Unfortunately Hulk i went matter/mind so my Lifedrain dd has a huge variable. What ive done is just find monsters that are yellow/orange, charm one of the yellows, and just kill till the camp bonus disappears. Charming a new yellow every so often when my pet gets below 40%. Its worked pretty well and i dont have to worry too much about resists.

Looks like once i hit level 16 i could no longer charm same level monsters. Anyone know if there is a logic to this? does my combined spec need to be at 2/3'rds? is the level 7 charm not functioning properly?

Charm Spell Lvl vs. max Pet Level:

1 - 10
7 - 15
12 - 26
20 - 40
32 - 50

Do you still need to keep mind at about your level to reliably charm mobs your level? I thought I remembered it working that way on this server, meaning if your mind is 32 at level 50 you will have a tough time charming level 50 mobs.

Not sure about the 32 charm spell on level 50's, but the previous version works up to 40. I'm 40 with 26 mind and I can charm up to level 40.

I remember reading long ago that you needed to keep mind at or near your level to charm mobs your level, which means very high mid spec at 50 for level 50 charms.

I don't know if it ever was true, but I'd like to know myself.

Speaking of Mind spec.

If I have 37 mind at level 50, do I need to make sure to cap Mind with items/SC?

Body needs to be 50 for variance, but would it actually matter for Mind spec?

also, anybody have any personal experience with charming higher level mobs.

this guide here seems to be quite wrong, ie. Priestess of Purity cant even be charmed. Lots of others don't do anything like what this guide lists.

thanks!
