Thanks for your patience even it took way longer than expected. It was worth it.

The whole upgrade process was quite a success. Database performance improved a lot. Server and subsystems are running smoothly. Usage of full 8 GB RAM makes a difference.

Have fun playing on Uthgard.

If you want to make a serious server. No.

If you ever tried DOL on mono you will see that it works very poor causes severe lags eats huge amounts of memory and is generally slower than the original .NET on Windows. Last time I tried mono it was a mess. The garbage collector was so bad that the whole server freezed for 1-1.5 seconds on every GC.

I want to thank you for updating and keeping Uthgard running so well. I have to say I really missed my Uthgard yesterday but its all worth it when I can log on and play. Puts a great big smile on my face :) I hope the staff gets time to enjoy Uthgard :)

Thank you so much!
Shalindra

I'm really shocked about the new database performance. Its soo much better I can't even describe it. I have yet to see a sql statement that takes 100ms or more which was quite common before. My guess is that most of the tables are in memory over time.

For the ones who are interested:
- MySQL was upgraded from 5.1 x32 to 5.5 x64
- All tables now use InnoDB 1.1 (which results in 2.2GB inventorytable btw :) )
- InnoDB buffer pool size is 4GB
- InnoDB logfile size is 400MB
- Max concurrent threads are 16
- Transaction commit level is 0
- Database files are on a separate small partition which was defragmented after data was imported

Congratulations to everyone involved in upgrading the server from scratch!

It is always nice to see that what you have done really makes a difference and people appreciate it. Happens way too rarely.

Keep up the good work guys. Unfortunately I won't have time to log on and experience it for myself until this weekend.

Cheers Gwenwhyfar.
