New Server & OF

Hello Community.

We'd like to give you a newsflash about the upcoming week. As we have announced earlier, we have cancelled our contract with the current server hoster. The last day of the gameserver in the old computer center is Wednesday, November 11th. We have ordered the new server, but we did not get access to it yet, so we could not prepare it until now. We hope to get it on Monday or Tuesday, as we need about one day for setting up everything. It could be possible that we can't hold our promise to change the server on the fly due to the fact that we don't know when exactly we get access to the server. I don't think we will have a downtime, but it could be possible.

After the new server is ready, we will start to convert our RvR setting to the old frontiers, as we also announced. We cannot say how long this will take, but it should not last longer than a few hours.

Have a nice weekend!

An infothread about the coming Old Frontiers is now available here

Heya Staff,

What will happen with characters that are logged out in NF when OF goes live? Will they automatically be teleported to a 'safe' place (like their mainland bindpoint) or will they require assistance from a GM?

Another thing: The new server will have another IP-adres. Many DNS-servers will update within 20 minutes but some will not. Can you post the new IP-adres so we can write it down (on paper) so we can enter it manually in DAoC-Portal if needed?

We will jump those characters to safe places. However it would be a great help if you could do that yourself. It might be possible that some of you need assistance if you do not leave the new frontiers yourself.

Of course we will post the new ip address.

When the new server is up, yes. You can also always resolve the IP by using uthgard.game-server.cc

Great, thanks! Always loved Old Frontiers. Also thanks for enabling all keeps. But there's another question. Will there be exp bonus like in current Hadrian's Wall, Emain Macha and Odin's Gate?

Yes, there will be some kind of XP bonus because these zones are RvR areas and dangerous to level in.

Keeps, Ninja Raids and Minstrels

Question: In OF so called "Ninja Raids" were possible, which means going in with a bunch of assassins without opening the keep door.

IIRC, at that time there were no powerful spreadheals. Also, minstrels couldn't climb walls IIRC.

That probably makes a big difference since Ninja Raids are probably much easier with a) support from primay healers outside and b) for Albion with minstrels able to participate.

Is this intended? Any ideas? Or just like that?

( There are 21 keeps and not one single tower )

That means no more Stronghold Soldier titles?

Spreadheals were available in OF (not from the beginning of course). Same for climbing minstrels. There are 3 keeps (one in each frontier region) with 2 outter keepgates and no inner keepgates, which could make an assassin raid possible, yes. We have no influence on the keepgate positions.

You cannot achieve it anymore if you do not have it, but you keep it if you have it.
