Server Change and Old Frontiers

Hello Community,

there are good news for you. We have terminated the contract with our current hoster which means we are finally moving! The current server will run until November 12th. We are going to get the new one a week earlier in order to avoid a downtime of a few days, like the last server change brought us. I want to thank all donators. You made this possible by supporting us so we do not even have to force a downtime of a few days for the preparation of the new server. Thanks a lot!

Here is a short overview of what we are talking about: The current server is running on an Athlon64 DualCore (X2) 3800+ at 2,0 GHz with 1 GB RAM and one Harddrive. The new server will be running on an Intel® Core™ i7-920 Quad-Core at 2.67 GHz with 8 GB RAM and 2 harddrives. This means that even if one harddrive crashes like we have seen it a few times in the past, we do not loose too much time, because there is a backup hadrrive in the server. In addition, the new server is in a bigger computer center with a way higher backbone bandwidth, so that connection caused lags should disappear.
Again: Thanks to all those who made this possible by donating!

The forum will be available during the whole process.

The way to old frontiers is almost finished. We have done a testrun past weekend that showed some minor problems that have been fixed. We will go for a re-test during the next weeks and finish the missing components. So if no extremely bad problems occur, we will be able to launch the old frontiers with the new server.

That's it so far. Enjoy the game. :)

So with the new server comes a higher rental cost. So that everyone knows what kinda quota you are looking at, what kind of funds are you needing to be able to maintain Uthgard-Server.Net?. Let us know so we all might be able to better understand the needs of "Uthgard-Server.net" and are able to provide significant support for the owner and volunteer's at Uthgard-Server.Net.

Thanks for Reading This.

The new server will cost 175€ for the initial setup and is charged with a monthly fee of 49€. Currently we are not in an urgent need due to so many nice persons who helped us. If we get in trouble again, of course we will let you know. Thanks for your offer. :)
