Yes, we have also fixed a bug with poisons which will make this less effective for classes without the envenom skill.

Here is an odd question; what impact, if any, would the TPP have on Uthgard?

I still browse this forum for news although I rarely post. I believe anyone serious about DAOC has reactivated on LIVE as there aren't any shards worth playing. The communication with the community here is abysmal. Unfortunately, the "we don't owe you anything we are doing this for free" argument doesn't hold water to me. Obviously you have a large fan base and they have been patiently/unpatiently waiting for Uthgard to return for a long time. It doesn't take a serious time commitment to post replies on the forum. When blues do post they provide little to no information. You are creating the unrest within your community by the way you're treating them.

With no ETA posted and no concrete information my best personal guess is we're still a minimum of 6 months away. I would think if we were close there would be more communication.

That "while ago" is 1.5 years :(. This combined with all the strange "We don't really know what Blue is doing, but though he's browsing the forums he's not willing to post so I will speak for him"-stuff (at least that's how I perceive it) is very irritating and does not bode well.

If you guys actually ARE successfully working on the server and making major (or minor) strides in terms of development, I really don't understand why your style of communication about it is counteracting your message all the time. This is all pretty confusing :?

Start the Beta is the best option. It will let ppl have a look on bugs, while enjoying the game.

+ we don't care of SI, old RA and other stuff you didn't finish yet. We just need to play to DAoC without that many bugs we can see when we play on Genesis or any other freeshard. Just understand that...

If you have problem with dev afk or something, go on recruit fresh members and head to the end untill launch...

I absolutely dont want a beta. When server was open, people was crying days after days about BUG on the servers. When GM was fixing them, players was crying because they didnt wanted the bugfix/the change on some/many features that was in uthgard. If there is a beta, ****** will be the same. Keep working on the server, and when you think the time has come for the reopening, then open it, but not as beta
2012:<@[Uth]Abydos> If we don't have SI by the end of the year, Im fairly certain I wont be a GM anymore :-p

This can ´t be helped, there will always be people complaining or being upset about some things, cuz ppl are different like the fingers on your hand.
Blue once said he wants a running server with most of things working and fixed so there is not much more needed work to make fixes late.

I think this is the best ways because it prevents some later argue and complaining while things are changed.
A beta is good to find more bugs and problems as sooner it is started the better it is, there is a chance that some things are detected that need a lot more work to do sided by staff, these reports can extend the final release by weeks maybe months, so there is no reason to hold it back now, a beta is for testing and finding errors and bugs.

It ´s better changes/fixes are done before the final relaunch, otherwise it will bring much more conflicts like it has been happenend before at Uth. 1.0.

i can understand your point really good. normally i would agree you, but this time its a bit more difficult.

i think a beta is absolutely necessary because of the new rvr setting.
there can always be major bugs with the new code and ra´s.
i believe a beta is the best way to prevent gamechanging bugs at the server re-release.
but the beta should bring 3 things with it (in my opinion)

- the old charakters with rr and equip (for a fast testing and player nostalgia)
- free levels and rr (for new players)
- no X-realm rules for the time of the beta (for a fast testing of "special scenarios")

also the beta shouldnt last long, 1 month maybe 2. + a announced time before the server reopening.
we need to give blue the time to fix things before the server releases.

but still i have mixed feelings at uthgard atm, i really hope it will be back, but i dont believe it anymore.
anyways i will definately play uth2

Not even retail games have a months worth of beta, at max I'd say a week to find those game breaking bugs, everything minor can be patched in later. Make instant 50's with npc to increase RR so we can test damage increase as you go up in RR and other RR mechanic's. We can test relic and keep take as well.

The staff said they didn't want to interact with the community on the forums because it could delay relaunch( answering all the troll posts). I however think they have misunderstood exactly what the community wants from them. I don't expect to have every post I make or anyone's to get responded, I think after a staff member makes an announcement we the community discuss it and they may intervene if they like but its not necessary. I expected the staff to give weekly or monthly updates. It's time consuming to answer every post on the forums, but not really to announce how the server is progressing. Sometimes we can go months without any information and that's when people start becoming impatient.

I think the grab bag is a good idea, but it doesn't tell us how the server is progressing, It only tells us what we can expect, and while that's nice I'd also like to know how the server is doing. It's been over 5 months since we actually had a real server update and as time passes the time between information increases, people start making rumor's or whatever else that might demoralize the staff and the community.

Abydos told me that sometimes the staff feels drained when they read some negative posts and doesn't help them. Well tbh you do this to yourself by neglecting the community. We don't need forum babysitting, we need a leader who can frequently tell us whats happening so that we the community can stay calm. DAoC is not just any game, it is the best game and Uthgard presents us with the best experience anyone could as for. Maybe this is why people are sometimes negative because their passion turns to hate because they have no clue what to expect and as humans we always expect the worse.

The group that runs up against them can't kill them fast enough because smite clerics have sooooooo many tools at their disposal combined with decent ranged damage with 8 of them dudes doing it!
