So I played DAOC from launch to the last expansion, Then moved on to new games after that. Currently I am backing Camelot Unchained and waiting for it but its at least a year away, but I am not trying to debate or speculate about that game.

Currently I want something to play. I tried the current version of DAOC but it just wasnt fun for me, you hit 50 in a few days and RVR is all about timers, instas, item uses. I had heard about the free shard a while back but never looked into it.

So I am here now but want to know why I should wait for Uthgard and not just play Genesis? Could someone please tell me what will be different? WIll there be a bigger population in Uthgard?

btw way I would really like to roll an oldschool ranger.

So reading the patch notes about the Hunter damage increase, they should be a viable solo stealth to play right? Any issues around them at this patch level? How would they compare to rangers?

Ranger is probably the best out of the 3 archers on this server. There are no buff bots, and ranger gets a self dex/qui buff so the bow advantage goes to rangers.

Hunters would need a dex/qui charge item to really be decent solo against rangers.

All archer classes suck on old RA. No MOS = dead. Your only chance to get RPs will be adding.

You seem unhappy about alot of the game in its state we'll be getting. Are you sure you want to play? I wouldnt if i felt like that.

I'm a realist, not a "negativist."

I don't want to give people false hope. Archers are absolutely horrible soloing at this patch level. They're good for farming greys or adding, but that's about it. If you're lucky, you could probably kill a caster in melee, but it's extremely rare to find soloing casters. Archers actually had a chance vs. assassins when they could see them in stealth using mos, but in old ras it's the opposite... Assassins can see archers from far away and archers are completely defenseless vs. PA.

Assassins will beat you in melee 10/10 times. Same with pretty much every other class that solos.

I played a hunter to rr9 in this patch setting 12 years ago, It was the worst of the 3 archer class but you could still solo on it against every other stealther.

The "12 years ago" part it's the problem

But yeah, you can solo with every class, it's more about apply methodology and how much patience you have left.

And The man is correct, If you go Archer on uthgard at this patch level you will be farming grey's or adding on fights. You will not be soloing. So few actually remember what daoc was like all those years ago. I can't wait to see this forum a month or two after launch, So many of you will be singing different tunes. Mark my words lol.

I've been watching your posts @Outphaze, sadly no endowment of divine intellect will ease the suffering that is about to unfold. For those of us who have actually been there and done that, know that end game 8man rvr will be very strict slot picks.

- sit at your portal keep for an hour + in LFG for the right class's
- 5 to 10 min fight
- sit at PK, wait for cool downs
- refill cc slot 30+ mins
- 5 to 10 min fight
- back to pk to wait for cool downs,
- group fell apart


Don't get me wrong. I'm exited as hell to do it. But that's the sad truth about it. We may not have liked all the expansions and what not. But they came and happened for a reason.
