LOL!!!!!! Sorry but this is exactly the same thing that happened a few months ago. Dev's weren't talking... People were ****** about no news and it was dead... Then I believe it was Naryu that got on and said they were working on it but it was all code stuff so nothing to report directly on... Now we got more people saying "just give us anything to let us know you aren't dead!" Apparently the few times they said before they weren't dead wasn't enough? They need to say it just once more? |
|
Exactly, that last post by Nayru was enough to tell me 2.0 is going to happen. Waiting impatiently is not going to speed the process. Check for news from time to time, be social if you want but stop with the other crap. If you really do think that it's dead, why do you keep coming back here? Find something else to occupy your time until the thing you are waiting on is ready.

Yes, exactly. Much can happen in 3 months and there have been rumors Uth will never come back again and so on. A small update from time to time to make sure somebody is still working on it, Is that too much to ask for? I dunno your reaction about Abydos post but I feel much better. Now they can be silent for another 3 months again, if it is comfortable. I don ´t mind. About Uthgard, it is really easy to satisfy me, see, I´m not asking for a release date ![]() Regards |

Here's some more good news:
Since they really want uthgard to be as classic and live-like as possible, GMs have been doing their research and discussing the patch notes from this SI era... ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Well all it really takes is one Staff member to show up and say one sentence, yet it takes them months to even do that. I really don't know how busy they are but if I can check the forums once a week and respond I'm sure they can too. What I really want to know is if those rumors about M.J. are true.

What I really want to know is why little impatient children are on the forums complaining and being demanding?

I would say you are being mean but I have seen what kildich has written and this doesn't even come close to his level. Step it up a notch! |

Well, it's somehow the same as with Ex-Girlfriends. Just tell them that there may be a second chance and you always got someone to get rid of some pressure. Most here are just hoping for some news, even if it isn't news, just something, anything, whateverthing from the devs and people are happy.

it's obvious the server will come up at some point. everyone that's played here knows that while never pefect, the dev team did provide a really damn high quality server to play on despite being free. knowing what they're capable of even i'm confident the server will come back better than ever. yeah there was some animosity between community and devs but the genesis experience has made us realize that the grass isn't always greener for all parties.... uth.... lets get back together baby

Well, as far as I can see, genesis is working mostly fine now - not that the community is anywhere near as big as Uthgard was in its heyday.
That being said, I am not sure where some people take the confidence from to say that Uthgard will definitley be back. Leaving aside the fact that, of course, the development of Uthgard is a hobbyist project, the speed of development in the past 4-5 years was really really slow - to put it mildly. Now, you may say that this is not a fair comment since we used to play here for free and so on, but that's not the point. This is simply looking at the 'facts' as they present themselves to us and extrapolating from that. And from those 'facts' there really isn't any strong evidence to suggest that the re-write of the code (which is apparently the goal) is getting anywhere near to being finished. Nor do we have any sort of insight into how many people are even still contributing on a regular basis. The other thing is that clearly nothing has changed since the closing of the server - with respect to community interaction. This was always the weakest point of the server and it is, to this day, completely baffeling to me how one can spend a significant amount of time into developing something to be used by others and on the other hand care so little for the interaction with these users. Over the past 8-9 months we got but a handful of updates and even the early enthusiastic decalarations dissapeared into a puff of hot air, apparently. Noone is *that* busy that they can't post an update every so often to show people that they appreciate the continued support and 'patience'. The server needs the community to survive and actually be a server - otherwise the whole re-write,should it ever happen, would be entirely pointless. ![]() |

Very well articulated, Laastard. This post is the epitome of how we should gently ask for info. I was very thankful Abydos responded the other day. Because if there was no hope for Uth 2.0 to come around, why would we, the community, stay around to simply lament that which was already dead? And vice versa, if there was no one staying around, why would dev's continue on this relaunch project...? It is a symbiotic relationship, with of course the dev's doing the heavy lifting....but we've got to work together here, or else the dream of uth 2.0 will just fetter out into nothingness and die. And someday, X amount of years later, we will all look back and wonder, "What If...?". I don't want to see that happen. Long Live Uth, and particularly/hopefully Uth 2.0 ![]() Alpha |

As long as they include the secret cow level when it returns I will be happy.
