seriously, if they don't give any date about the reopening, it's because they just don't know, so they aren't ready

Actually there is a toxic element to many of these online game forums.

If you don't say whatever certain people want to hear they accuse you of crying, call you a newb, and then tell you if you don't like it then don't play.

I can go through 3 years of my posts and the responses to them and show you 30 examples and some of it from the devs.

The real response was when people left the server from this kind of toxicity.

People first got tired of writing on the forums. Then got tired of the direction of the server. Then they left.

But I'm actually a real fan of DAOC and enjoy the game. The devs are too. The players who make these sort of toxic statements are fans.

Why the heck can't we be civil and discuss the thing we enjoy together and help each other and listen to each other?

I can tell you-- pride and arrogance very simply. Intolerance to other view points. The perceived notion that "I" am an expert and the "other" guy is wrong and a newb, etc.

Lack of diversity and acceptance of other play styles and views makes for a less inclusive-- and thus-- smaller population server. Eventually this lack of diversity kills the server.

Players can greatly contribute to a server if you let them.

Uthgard, still the best server. Thanks, Devs.

sry, no personal offense, and i don't want to judge who is right and who is wrong on a specific case... but in your case it is just: In most of your posts, you blame developer and at the same time overextend and QQ (sry i can't think of another expression) so much to make your opinion heard, it hurts the eye to read.
This, plus that I disagree so completely with most of your arguments, makes it hard to answer in a polite way. :?
The normal reaction of most player is to make fun of so much QQ. Meanwhile I just stick with not to answer anymore. Like probably a lot, so don't be surprised if you get no answer sometimes. :D

Holsten, you are right in everything you say and I am wrong.

That is why Uthgard has a population of 1k at peak and never shut down.

Before the dev led suicide this was a thriving server at a much higher patch level.

This time around it would be nice if we could learn from our mistakes.

I don't see any indication that will occur.

I probably will ignore the forums and play an anonymous toon when uthgard starts back up.

There is one vision for the server and one voice and it does not belong to the players.

I think the staff is doing a complex job to bring the server to a high level of stability in all parts. Almost to have it close to "finished" for not having to get hands on it in the future. This is requiring time and effort to them and to us a little bit of patience and waiting.
Good work and happy holidays to the staff and everyone! See you in September!

relvinian the staff has learned a lot from many of the mistakes we made.

I doubt however that it is the actions you believe to be mistakes.

This comes from the fact that we have different opinions and views on what is the right thing to do.

I am sorry we can't agree on everything, but that is how it is.

And if that makes us arrogant and foolish in your point of view.

That is the burden we must live with daily, and I am sorry to break this to you.

But this is our work, and our decisions. If you disagree, there is not much else than listening to you we can do, because no matter what we say, we won't change your mind.

For everyone else:

We will update as soon as we have something to tell (as mentioned in our initial news).
Got any questions? Submit them to me and I will try to get them answered in our grab bag !

I for one appreciate you posting Trishin and am sorry that many of the people on the forums CAN'T ****** read. It is very clear as you say that you will update us when there is something to update about. I would say forget trying to please the people on here that continue to ****** and moan and ******. Do what you want to do with the server and the mature people who like it will stay and play on it. I would rather have less people playing that are better people then have more people playing that are entitled 5 yr olds.

Trishin,

Thank you for all your hard work and you guys have amazing technical skill-- the very best.

Updates are very welcome and even if you don't want input-- the more information and updates you give the players the better it will be for the server.

Everyone has different opinions and no doubt we don't and won't agree. I have no problem with that either.

My problem was the unfortunate tanking of the population and there wasn't sun spots or flux in lay lines-- it was from ignoring players wishes.

I hope that was one of the lessons you guys learned.

The only reason people are here and qqing is because deep inside, they care.
If they didn't they wouldn't be here.

Thanks for the post Trishin!

See Dev's!!! You are sending this man/woman/transgender into withdrawals!!! You should be ashamed. Of course you can see the only resolution is to finish the server so this man/woman/transgender can get his/her/its life back in order!!!

P.S. Sorry I figure I should be politically correct and cover all my bases =)

"My problem was the unfortunate tanking of the population and there wasn't sun spots or flux in lay lines-- it was from ignoring players wishes. " Yeah? Then that is your problem and anyone else's that think they are entitled to something. I don't think you understand the concept of a FREE SERVER. That means you have done nothing for these people and are getting something in return. They can ignore you, they can talk ****** about you all they want if they wanted to. THEY OWE YOU NOTHING, and because DAoC is all but dead you should be thanking them, they are the ONLY reason you were able to play on such a well run server. You people make me sick, no gratitude just ******... please do all of us mature players a favor and take you and your loser whiners and leave.

I appreciate this view point and understand it. I gave my time. I gave money. That doesn't mean I'm special. As a matter of fact, however, all the players who come here invest in the server. To say that there is no duty to the players is not a logical statement.

Even a labor of love still has customers or users. I volunteered my time for 6 years 5 hours a week working with at risk kids. When I showed up I brought my "A" game, just like I was being paid. The devs do here-- they are first rate professionals by the quality of their work.

What you are actually saying is wrong. There is no server without the players. There is no server without the devs-- this concept is called interdependence.

the word NEWS is not indicative enough?

Do i really have to upload another picture of that part of the site and ask again where to go for the latest relaunch date information?
Let's do it by the numbers for these types of people.

First, let's click on News as suggested. We'll go by the numbers here...

Must be here somewhere..

Nope, down further?

Looks like no ETA news anywhere, as I suggested. Before more straw men appear saying I shouldn't be "demanding" one, the context is clear here that I'm refuting claims of where all of us are supposed to go instead of asking in several threads in the forums. This is a suggestion to relieve stress some people have here that causes them to be asses to players dropping by for a quick update of an ETA. Changing this to "demanding" or "just look right there for the update! That's taking what we are saying completely out of context by answering the question with other types of updates.

Again, this is in no way asking for an update every time we drop by, we would prefer a place we can go to to check it out a few times a month. This would severely limit people posting in your threads and creating their own asking for one about an ETA.
