Is there a "definitive list" for the OLD RAs by class? I ask because I was trying to compare some different assassin classes, the infiltrator/nightshade/shadowblade.
Based upon what I saw, I was surprised that only the Nightshade had access to Ignore Pain. Is that correct? It's the only one with a 100% in combat heal, combined with Viper? That seems like a pretty intense combination. Just to be sure, I went to http://web.archive.org/web/20030810130159/http://www.camelotherald.com/realmabilities/infiltrator.html, which is a link that was provided to me on this forum by someone a while ago, you will notice that the infiltrator does not have "ignore pain" on the list. Not sure if it matters, but the date of the link on the way-back machine was Aug 2003. The other weird thing about that link is that it lacks the very famous "Mastery of Water" Old RA that was so very helpful (not). Hence, I wasn't sure if this is the "OLD RA" list or "Modified Old RA" list. So, I scrolled further back on the way-back machine to May 2002, the list changes to include Ignore Pain and has the famous "Mastery of Water" listed. This clearly is an old-RA list since it included that crappy RA. So, I'm wondering which is the "official" Old RA list that we are going to use? I never remember them removing "Mastery of Water" until the new RAs came out. Anyway, if there is an official, "this is what we're using" list, that would be most helpful. Thanks. |

Nightshades do not get Ignore Pain.
They are the only assassin to get Avoid Pain though. Ignore pain was removed from ALL assassin classes in 1.56: - We've removed the Ignore Pain Realm Ability from all three Assassin classes. These classes have been granted back the realm training points they spent to get Ignore Pain. It was an oversight that Assassins were given IP at all, and we should have taken it away sooner. Unique RA wise: Infiltrator gets Vanish (old school, it doesn't wipe dots from you or anything else, just stealths you.) NS gets Viper (dots do double for the next 30 seconds I think) SB gets Shadowrun (I think its called, they get to move really fast stealthed for 30 seconds or something terrible). well yeah lets take halv of my sentences so it looks like im retarded ... its not like i expected anything less from you |

I have played DAOC since Nov 2000. By Feb 2001, it took 6 hours to be a bubble at level 41. That's not my point. My point is, Alb has ALWAYS had a healthy population. I'll repeat that...ALWAYS. The realm that I think has always had something of an issue for population has been Hibernia, traditionally speaking of course. |
|
If you are implying that because Alb had a population in 2001 theyll have 1 now, then you are sorely mistaken. In 2001 nobody knew how things worked, people just picked a realm and rolled with it. Now people actually know the game inside out, youll see a major difference in populations. Personally i think Alb will have some population because imo they have the more fun classes (spamming assist and doublefrost is cool for like a month, then you get bored and reroll), but the 8 mans better not cry when they get rolled by multiple groups because if you put the same 8 players in a mid 8 man and an alb 8 man, the mid will win, therefore expect albs to carry sidecars due to the endo issues and having to go 7v8 with a paladin in there. That'll be my view on it anyway when im on Alb. If we have 12 players on, expect us to roam as 12 and hunt your 8. |

Will you all just stop? It hurts! I can't go on.??.?

Sorry I typoed the patch level there, it was 1.56: http://camelotherald.wikia.com/wiki/Patch_Notes:_Version_1.56 Avoid Pain for NS: https://web.archive.org/web/20031011085457/http://www.camelotherald.com/realmabilities/nightshade.html http://www.ign.com/boards/threads/petition-nightshade-realm-ability-removal-request.452392922/ Nezix - 50 Minstrel <The Band>

The competitive 8mans (for the most part) are going to stay away from alb and either go hib or mid. Out of ~30 people I used to play with on genesis, I've only met 1 person who's going alb, and everyone is trying to convince him not to. The casuals will of course spread out relatively equally IMO. Then you have to factor in the following: - people who chase relics (likely won't be on alb) - people who get tired of never having crafting/exp/keep bonuses from owning keeps - casuals who get tired of being ganked by bloodthirsty hibs/mids swarming APK when they run out of each other to fight This effect probably won't be that noticeable at launch when everyone is still running on excitement and hype. Give it a few months, and when people realize just how big of disadvantage alb is playing with they'll start moving to hib/mid, which will cause a mass exodus. Eventually, the devs will of course launch a last-ditch-effort and likely implement some custom changes to get the population/balance back on track, but if history has taught us anything, it will be too late. Cheers,

With the realm switch timer I really can't see people "chasing relics".

[3:10pm] <myrmidon^> that's what I learnt [3:11pm] <Frosty_> then why does austerim suck

I have yet to find a server with a realm switch timer that works. As always, the timer only prevents casuals who don't have the knowledge/don't care enough to circumvent the system.
