Hi there,

I played a lot on Uthgard, having fun as a casual. I read quite all posts since the server was stopped, and I have the feeling that a lot of persons have nothing else to do other than crying or blaming the staff...

I can't understand how you can be so rude against the staff, they cut their private life to get some few time slots to work on this server. How much did you gave to this ? what was/is your effort ?

I think that most of you QQer urgently need a mirror to have a good idea of whom the staff is not working for.

I'm sure that even the most negative ones here, those who tell us they will never come back on Uthgard for many ridiculous reasons, will be there on day 1. so, keep calm, smile and enjoy the time being.

see you then,

Are you guys tidying up the old Uth1.0 source code, or importing the whole Uth1.0 features in the most recent/stable DOL source?

This is something worth thinking, even if i dont know how DOL Project have gone far since couple of years that i don't follow them..
There was a time when Uthgard 1.0 existed and maaaany toons and arrpees arose... but now:

Scalado wrote:Thanks for the update. Personally, I will definitely return and I think many others will, too, as long as the word is spread around properly. Why? Because this is the best game of all time. It is strange, if one looks at almost any specific detail one may easily find a game which surpasses it, but DAoC's very special amalgam is nothing less than a work of artistic genius. Nothing has ever captivated me quite like it.

I'm also sure Uthgard 2 will be a success. The server has been down for almost a year now, and yet hundreds check the website every day for updates on their favourite game. The forums are still active although there is nothing to talk about. I see the constant bickering about the (lack of) frequency of updates not as a tedium, but as a testimony to the tenacity of the playerbase, which is united in its loyalty, its vision and eagerness to play, even if they express it in different ways.

Before too long, weapon- and armourless hordes will be rampaging through the starting zones on release day, just as they did 13 years ago. Then we shall see that the long wait was not in vain and the devs will know that the countless hours of work were worth it, as the server groans under the weight of an unprecedented number of players. The naysayers of the past will fall silent, at least for a short while, privately relieved that they were proven so wrong. And for one brief moment, all will be enraptured in nostalgic bliss.

WOW
That ^^ about sums it up. Nicely said.
I am currently playing on Genesis but can't wait for
Uthgard 2.0.

Uthgard's code is diverged from DOL as both have greatly separated over the years. We are not merging our code with DOL again as it is not feasible.

I agree, when a rough release date is known the staff and community should make commercials about the relaunch.

I can help out making commercial videos if you want when the time comes. Just let me know.

Trishin,

seriously there is only one person insulting other user in his posts.

There was really no need to delete all other comments.

best regards

You forgot to clean side 2 Trish.
I´m ok with deleting offtopic posts / flames etc. but you should strictly remove posts of the person who is responsible for this escalation and trolling as well. Thx

Baman wrote:Have you guys considered releasing the server early without SI and then patching in SI when it's finished? I mean that was our original experience with the game anyway. It'd give us time to start leveling characters/crafters and we'd all still be on an even playing field at the start with no custom items in the community.

I don't consider this a valid idea. We would be just like the last 7 years.... staff would spend all their time chasing hackers, cheats, macro tool users, multi-logins, and thief's and not have time to work on the core programing
