It would be useful to appoint one of the forum mods as the community manager who is responsible for producing the "Friday grab-bag" posts.

This free's up the developers time from having to answer banal questions and still allows the players a link to the team.

It seems at the moment that Trishin and Juna do the posting when they should be doing other things :)

As to the actual news, it's all good.

You are kind of right.. no new news is still news and will keep ppl attached... a weekly update even if there is nothing new would give a great feeling of there is something going on... your readers volunteer for this job of - how was that lady called? - Grab bag Sonja? Sanja? Sanya?

Oh Sanya!

I´ve tried all of the possible mmo´s that could replace DAoC for a while, deleted all and nothing even came close. Even tho there was 1 game that has a really really nice UI build that I can see that the people doing it were actually using their brain not like most 99% carpal tunnel syndrome provoking and grinding games.

But waiting for Uthgard has still provoked me to post this picture, not because of the speed, but because from the time of Origins nothing has come close to me enjoying a server.

I am right there with you brother. I have played probably 10 different games over the last year since I quit DAoC and none give me the fun that I had here. The only game that kept my attention was Far Cry 3. When I came back, Uthgard was down. Come on baby, give us some information or at least a hint when the server is back up.

Piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiil? :D

Like most non-commercial processes there's always a huge motivation and optimism at first :-) Then the boring part slowly begins becomming a struggle and some participants run out of stamina before others, leaving the remaining partners demotivated. I guess the whole revamp process feels like a treadmill for the developers by now, if it hasn't for quite a while already. Amiright?

Keep on trucking guys! Please, before the sun comes out and outside is viable for shorts and t-shirts :-)

Maaaaaybe a little tweaking and content can be left to be implemented later? I don't think anyone would mind at this point (other than devs). People are going to complain no matter what - as I kind of am doing now by hinting at my impatience - so just get the show on the road! It's going to be fun as ****** ;o

(I guess dev's won't have time to implement stuff when the server launches because they themselves want to participate on even footing with the rest of the playerbase)

Seems like your way of saying, 'I don't have the patience to wait for them to come back, better than ever'.

Many of us are willing to wait. We hope its ready sooner rather than later, but we'll support the staff while they get things ready.

I would say its fine if not.all stuff is in the game. Rather that than have something in there wich has to be nerfed/fixed later (equality discussions etc). 20% of quests not finished? Leave em out completly and add them later. But stuff like bossmonster strenth / drops etc have to be implemented once and not changed later otherwise you would have uthgard 1.0 problems all over again
Hiois - Ranger 9lX Uth 1.0
Hiois - Enchanter 6lx Uth 2.0
Mugad - Warden 4lx Uth 2.0
Esigil - Druid 3lx Uth 2.0
Hioisx - Nightshade 1lx Uth 2.0

I am sure they have watched how poorly the Origins... err Genesis team fubar their freeshard and lost more than half it's population within weeks. Use that as a learning tool or reference guide if you will.

People are craving for the old SI like DAoC RVR but not the old SI leveling. Uthgard must have a significant bonus(es) for XP and not what they used to have. The goal for most of the people is to get out and rvr as soon as they can. No one wants to grind XP especially the 40+ leveling which was notoriously horrid on DAoC live.

People generally wont care about quests at 40+ other than the SI Neck quest. But they will want fast xp like big bonus for XPing in an rvr zone.

Again many have jobs/family, Updates come when they are approved/ready.

That is completely respectable but nonprofit or not, one of the key recipes to success in any organization is communication. Over two weeks have gone by without an update; competitive advantage can make the difference between 100 or 1000 on relaunch. Yes there are plenty of diehard Uthgard fans out there that don’t care if it’s released until 2016 and will drop any other game to play Daoc (including myself) but this is not true for the whole community.

How can you know what "people" want? I know many folks (including myself) who want the "classic level experience", not a char that reaches lvl 40-50 in one day... (like an eight-men-group does on genesis...)

In my opinion, it is even a higher motivation for going RvR than rolling a new toon.
