Look I am just as anxious to be playing again as you are and it is frustrating that there is only one good DAoC server, but consider this as people keep asking and in some cases ****** about no updates or that its taking to long to bring the server up those great people that are working on it might start to wonder if its worth it. I will be much more ****** off if because of assholes who don't have lives and feel their needs are the most important thing in the world if those people cause this server to go away. That is what will ****** me off. You want to keep asking I can't stop you, but if you and people like you end up being the reason this server stays down its not the people working on it I will be ****** at it will be you. Oh and for the record I don't think anyone that plays on a free server is entitled to anything. I don't care if they spent 10 years playing on the server have maxed out every toon on multiple accounts, all of that was their choice and they didn't pay a dime unless they donated which again isn't required.
You know what I do? I check back every couple days, to A tell people to STFU when they keep asking and B to check to see if there is any news. Takes less than 5 minutes unless I have to argue with people that threaten the server returning. Bottom line is we are at their mercy and I respect that, I could give a ****** what anyone else thinks because unless you and those ****** plan to create your own DAoC server your opinion means nothing to me. |

It would also take less than 5 minutes to write one or two sentences letting ppl know what's going on, even if there's nothing to report, just so ppl know it's not dead in the water like alot have been thinking already. I agree with you for the most part, the devs don't owe anyone anything, and it is annoying to see how some ppl think that they are owed an explanation - but not everyone is equally mature. There's no need to explode every time you see them bottom-feeding comments, and I don't think the devs are so sensitive that they would stop all work just because some ppl are impatient, otherwise this server would've disappeared years ago - believe that! Scrooge I am sure you are right about the devs but really what if you were doing all this work for the benefit of other people and those people were whining and complaining about how slow it was going or that there wasn't any news. I for one would wonder who these people are and why I am trying to do something for them. Lets face it if Uthgard goes down there will not be another DAoC server of anywhere near the quality and stability of Uthgard. Yes it would be easy for them to post an update but they are not, I would like for them to as well just so I know whats going on but again we are at their mercy.
I have played nearly every single MMORPG to come out starting with EQ and most recently I got back on EVE. However no MMO has kept my attention like DAoC and I hated that EA bought out Mythic and screwed the live game up. I sadly didn't know about Uthgard until last year but once I started playing it, it was like back when Mythic didn't suck on the live server. I don't know these devs but I have great respect for them and I feel that those that keep harping on the devs about news or ETA or whatever THEY don't respect the devs and what they have done for them, for all of us and that ****** me off. People can call me a kiss ass if they want to but they allowed me to play a game that was one of my all time favorites again when I never thought I would. Backman66 I will not be apologizing to you or anyone else for going off, you and people like you don't understand the meaning of patience, of respect so I have no patience or respect for you. I suggest that if you don't like how the devs are doing things go find a DAoC server just like theirs and play on that.... oh wait there isn't one. |

I agree with everything Kildich says 100%.
I don't expect any answers and i will support them however I can. I just keep hoping they will tell us if it is at least still being worked on. I know ETA's are tough and I get that, but it really takes nothing to spend 10 minutes writing a little summary of what the status is =) Hell I hope they are enjoying the summertime. I will even be happy to donate to them but I can't until I know things are still happening. |

I didn't check the forum in 4 months, nothing has chenged and nothing will change. Staff was lacking in respect towards the players before, this lack of communication is just a proof that despite what was said, the mentality will stay the same.

I don't think the people who are hoping for news feel like they're owed something, just that it would be nice to hear anything from the developers, even if it is as short as saying "Hey we're still working on it, we know you guys are excited to play, we'll give you more news when we can." A post like that would take literally a minute and would mean a lot to a lot of people. Not even getting that in 4 months can make even the most dedicated fan wonder if they're getting their hopes up for nothing. |

I totally get that line of reasoning briq. And i feel it myself. What I am astrounded by is the amount of people who feel the staff OWES them a response. That idiot above me who jumps in with that comment about how the staff doesnt care for any of the fanbase. Why is this stupid? Why in the world would they be putting so much effort into this game if they disliked people? Obviously they have to care or they wouldn't be doing it.

Quik is right, the staff might be really busy and I doubt very highly that they "dis-respect" the players. All though with the way some act like children "Is it done yet? is it? huh? is it done yet?" I would actually not give an update until people stopped asking. How self-centered does a person have to be to think that because the staff hasn't updated them personally that its because they don't like them. Seriously people GET A LIFE.

January 27th, the server goes down. February and March had updates. Why is there nothing from March - present? Of course the players are worried. Especially if this is the only server they care about. 1 day of each month could bring us tiny tidbits of information even if it's as simple as "Hey, we're still working hard. Have patience guys." I don't think players are demanding consistent updates, I think it is solely based on the 4 month absence of information. Surely the staff can understand that.

And this is exactly how I feel. I worry it isn't coming back. Of course they might be so ****** at the player base that they simply don't want to keep them updated...and with some of the people on here I could totally understand that. On the flip side...SOME idea would let people start planning. I would love to get a PST guild going for Alb or Hib whichever I decide to play but until I have an idea whats the point. Again I don't expect an answer but I sure would appreciate one =) LOL even if they just PM'ed those who are still supporting them and ignore jerks. |
