Uthgard nutzt: 8xCore, 16GB RAM.

Uthgard uses: 8xCore, 16GB RAM. Enough far from completely.

It almost always depends on the code and the network. We had been here with worse hardware good performance. That what you get as a server today is almost luxurious compared to some years ago.

Thanks, no need to translate though.
It’s a pity that the code slows down the hardware, but all in all it is a 15 year old game so that’s that.

the thing is that the official daoc server code has never been released publicly. the whole DoL project, which every freeshard is more or less based on, is a reverse engineering project. that is also the reason why a lot of newer or not so polished freeshards have problems with higher population numbers (like genesis for example when it launched with 1000+ players online at the same time), because the code is not smoothed out and far from optimal.

On uthgard though, the devs have done a great job over the years (uthgard has been developed and upgraded constantly over 10 years) smoothing out code and optimizing scripts. it runs a lot smoother than any other freeshard.

Have you thought to provide a dedicated charbuilder ?

http://nixianplay.com/index.php?page=charbuilder is outdated or not ? and if it's always reliable is it the old or new RA ?

Thanks

The staff have mentioned they would like to but don't want to focus time on that yet.
Nixian is pretty good if you know the patch differences already.
I emailed him in the past with all the updates to make it match Uthgard 2.0, but he hasn't updated it yet. Not sure how much he checks that email. But I poked him again and mentioned Beta so maybe he will get to it!

You can switch between old and new RA. The buttons are pretty small though.

You will need access to the email you used on Uthgard 1.0

Was an email required? I don't even remember it's been SO long since I made my account(s).

Maybe you can send out an reminder-mail to all those mails you have stored in the database when Beta starts. =)

yeah i seem to remember making accounts without needing an email

Hi Zinzangz.

Do not worry, we will address this question in due course. This may be done via an upcoming news post as an additional note; that way we can explain in full and make everyone aware rather than having to dig through forum posts.
People coming together as a community can make great things happen.

The group that runs up against them can't kill them fast enough because smite clerics have sooooooo many tools at their disposal combined with decent ranged damage with 8 of them dudes doing it!

For a while I checked these forums daily, always hoping for some news. It really slowed down quite a bit towards the middle of last year, and I think lots of people stopped paying complete attention. I honestly thought Uthgard would never make it back, so glad to see that you guys are nearing the end. It must have been a big effort so well done for staying so committed. I hope that the break hasn't damaged the community too much, fingers crossed it all goes well!

So we will have the same 500 players as before the revamp? I hope not. I already won against all of them, gets quite boring. :D
