i'd like to know how many people still follow revamp progress. Genesis had 1500 players (+/-) at start, i believe Uthgard community is bigger, but after a pause of almost 1 year i think many have left the idea of playing daoc

1500+ ppl on Genesis is forgotten in the past. This number of players is wet dream of their GMs.
IMO Uthgard will reach 1k+ in average if will run again in the future

I agree, i mean if Genesis had 1500+ ppl at start, Uthgard 2.0 will have at least 2000+ player at start, but i also think that this number is going to decrease if this revamp still takes a lot of time to be done. Probably your 1000+ players is a correct assumption.

Anyway i think that more interaction with community can only help this waiting, and i don't mean "we did 50% / 60%...", but something that involve community into the revamp progress (to create item database, polls, tasks in Test server...).

Furthermore a Beta test is mandatory in my opinion (1 month, not more).

Pretty sure the data already gathered by the community on many topics (such as defense penetration) is more than enough, and the staff is working on it.

Heyy,

I'm still waiting, patiently as many of us I guess. Every morning, I come here to see if there is any update haha... Im not sure how many people it will be on the relaunch but the only thing I know is that I'll spend 24/24 online for sure for few weeks hahaha. Anyway I do agree with the "It would be better if they would give us some news more often etc" but well till they relaunch this server im fine with it.

As far as I know I think lot of people are waiting for the relaunch, even if it takes sooooo long, we all come back to Daoc, one day or another.

I'm not saying they don't, I wonder (and I suppose, but I can be wrong) if there's something the community can do for the revamp progress

They try to keep their team as small as possible. On the one hand it ´s easier to keep control and overview about the whole progress, on the other hand some things would probably be easier, if some other people may take a look on it too or give a helping hand.

Therefore I don ´t understand why they don ´t keep the server running in a beta-mode open for everyone with a complete rollback when the server is finally released.

Our community is full of daoc veterans and some of them have a very big knowledge about patches, game mechanics and so on. In my opinion it would be a big win on the revamp progress if these players may take a look at the server to help the staff check and control bugs, quests etc. anyway it would be a good stress test for the server too.

I´m pretty sure we will reach the 2k+ playernumbers in Europe primetime at the beginning WHEN we have the chance to spread out commercials when a release date is known. I don ´t know how many players from the states will join, their numbers have already much decreased in the last couple of years.
There are many ppl out there who still love daoc, but many are distracted by other games etc. and don ´t have / lost focus at Uthgard.

Therefore I´m not sure if the current politics of the staff is helpful to keep potential players interested in this project. I would say the hard-core is still here, many ppl checking this page without posting, so even if there is less communications between players at the moment, they are still here and waiting for some good news. 8)
But I ´m pretty sure some ppl already lost interest because of the non- conversation by the staff, that ´s a pitty.

To be honest I´m not sure what we will get with that 1.65 server. Blue once said it will have what the 1.65 patch level had at classic server, but will there be exceptions and when there are exceptions what will they be about :?:
So much still unclear at the moment. I know, patience is a sublime virtue 8) .

regards
Jerrian

I agree with the above poster: I currently play on Genesis and can't believe how buggy and incomplete it is. For instance, I am leveling up crafters in Albion and some thing are just not implemented. I would be willing to do this on an Uth beta server and compare it to patch notes and from Live's mechanics (You can actually skill secondaries using gray con trinkets on Genesis) to help test mundane stuff for launch.

I think the idea of a beta test is fine with one caveat.

Wipe at launch is required to put all on an even footing from the get go. This way you will willingly put time and effort into the process, knowing well that all you will get is the thank and gratitude from the server owners and community.

They really need someone to communicate the progress out to the community, which follows on the sidelines despite there being no updates for months on end. I hope they have a giant spreadsheet or document where they cross out their progress. It may seem like lines of code to them but having someone take a look now and then on this document and relay to the community what they are currently working on and how far they generally are, would really help the process.

"These last weeks we have been working on the following primary objectives; A, B, C. And this is how far we are with that."

We are not interested in the line of codes but I know it can be relayed "sexy" to us, so we understand why it takes so long to finish. Throw in some statistics like, so many line of codes and what issues they are currently facing, and the community will eat it up.

A little update is better than no update, in my opinion.

^^ oh yeah, a wipe after testing is necessary. That was the point to begin with for a relaunch

A beta wont be necessary most likely.. though maybe one night before launch instant 50 and rvr to test old ra's and see if they work properly.. everything else should work like it did before

The group that runs up against them can't kill them fast enough because smite clerics have sooooooo many tools at their disposal combined with decent ranged damage with 8 of them dudes doing it!

one night is not enough imo, i guess 1 week is fine (ofc i50 and rr10 so you can test everything while doing rvr and pve)
