Here is a thread with the old starter guild names: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=32873

Does someone remember/know in which patch starter guilds were introduced?

1.58 for PVP servers
- In order to ease new characters into the PvP server community, we're putting all newly created characters in a series of "newbie" guilds. These guilds are roughly based on the character's starting location, so all players in the same area will probably be in the same guild. There are four guilds per Realm, each named based on the geographical location. Characters can remove themselves from these guilds by doing a "/gc quit" any time. Please note that characters can technically remain in these guilds for the life of their character, should they choose to do so. Being automatically put in a guild at creation gives new characters an instant chat group and a sense of community with the other players around them. They can discard this guild at any time, and join a player-run guild when they meet the right guild.

1.62 for regular:
NEWBIE GUILDS

We've implemented the newbie guild system, so now all new characters will be pre-set in a guild. This is the same system that has been featured on the PvP servers for the last few months. Now, when you create a new character, you'll be placed in a guild that is based on your new character's starting location. This will give legitimately new players some community in their general starting area via guild chat and an easy way to meet up with like-level new players.

Can you tell us for how long the beta will last (or at least a rough estimation, based on your knowledge of the current status of the server)?

Hi Juri.

At this moment in time it is impossible for us to answer that question with an ETA - it would also be a contradiction in relation to the last two years. We hope the BETA does not last any longer than it needs to. Our internal testers have worked hard but there are still things that need to be checked.

Hi Alcyon,
thanks for the answer.

You know, my only concern is that this beta will last way too long. I mean, if you consider uth 1.0 you can say that the beta lasted 10 years. I really want to start on uth again, but I'm not going to stick to the beta as I will probably won't have time (or the interest) to do it. Knowing if it will last weeks rather than months will help out a lot, though.

I tried the Client for the classic Shard. Maybe it's the same. It was some old char selection. With stones and dark. Not sure which patch but quiet old. I would guess SI/Toa. And i liked the old loading screens.

And they had the real old town and city skins. Some kinda ugly but felt really oldschool. Old df. Very dark and red. And the old borderkeeps ofc. Sauvage looked way cooler.

AH saw it. Cotswold looks really old :) Mag mell must be older screenshot. Charscreen doesn't matter that much. As long as we got old towns, borderkeeps and cabby pets

We understand your concerns.

TheKrokodil wrote:We're hoping to keep the beta as short as possible (since most players wouldn't want to invest time into it anyway), and will be testing several different things (low level, high level, RvR). I don't think any restrictions will be necessary (if players can and will actually level until 50, the beta is probably way too long.

Beta *should* be short unless we encounter blocking, game-impacting issues that will need to be fixed. We probably will, but our hope is that it's not that many and it won't take up too much time.

We'll try to give out at least a 1 week notice for the real relaunch.

In one of the revamp screenshots "A Druid and his pet" or something like that you can see an old border keep. :)

did they have the login screenshot I posted? or a different one? cause that one was the old one that was used in classic and SI daoc and a bit into toa. with nf and the newer addons they also changed the login screen to the new one.

ANother one. But i think the login Screen changed some times. Wasn't only nf. Could have been only the background changing though. SI Booklet has this ui but different background.
