"A week ago the first snowflakes danced on the wind. Now, everything is coated with inches of white powder.
A little arctic hare nibbles on some plants that it has dug from the snow. Startedly, it ****** it's ears and then
speeds off in a frenzied flight. In the distance there's an increasing clamor and shouting.
"

General:
Like Tajendi, this event will take place in a custom zone. You'll be facing other players in a good old snowball fight (or Deathmatch, call it how you want).

When creating this zone, we used some of the elements we want to introduce new in Tajendi Part II like more detailed textures and own models, so now you might know what expects you in the future :)

Details:
- The event will be a PvP event. No realms, no groups, no mercy!
- The zone will be accessible from [SEE BELOW] using the PortalNPCs
- In the zone you will have to look for snowballs to throw at your opponents. You can grab snowballs by rightclicking on the snow hills (marked by red conned npcs).
- For each 'kill' you'll receive scores.
- When releasing after being killed, you will appear somewhere in the zone
- You will need Catacombs or higher; I'm afraid ToA won't work either this time; don't know why.
- Important: To get out of the X-mas zone, use /returnhome
- In order to keep the balance between players there will be several restrictions:
    * You cannot use spells/styles/weapons.
    * When you're hit you'll not loose a fixed amount but a certain percentage of HP.

- You can heal yourself at warm places with fire when you are out of combat
This will ensure that even a level 1 can take on a level 50 without being totally disadvantaged.

Event times
Kills are only counted between these dates:

24.12.2008 18:00
26.12.2008 23:59

You can still enter the zone for fun on other times.

Note: Please read the license that you can find in the Tajendi Thread.

Download:
1.) If you already have the DAoC Portal skip to step 3, else download it:
# DAoc Portal Download

2.) Install Daoc Portal.

3.) Download the SnowZone plugin: (14.8 mb)
#Mirror #1(uthgard-server.net)
# Mirror #2 (rapidshare.com)
# Mirror #3 (file-upload.net)

4.)
a) Extract the plugin into your <daocportal>\mods\ directory.
or b.) Doubleclick on the plugin (.dmm file), and DAoC-Portal will add it into its mod manager.

6.) Start DAoC Portal, set your client-directory and open the mod manager. [Client->Mod Manager]

7.) Enable the plugin by checking it and then click on 'Patch'.

8.) If everything worked fine, you should now have a patched client containing the X-mas zone.

9.) Talk to Santa Claus in Cotswold/Mularn/Mag Mell to get into the X-mas zone. Use /returnhome to get back.

10.) Have fun!

[Thanks to T-Man for creating the text for this event]

The percentage sux, the event is good only for lvl 1, like you find there. A lvl 1 char has imba regen, while taking same percentage as a 50. You should remove somehow the regen for all chars.

Well, my honest opinion is: This event sucks.

There is not even a little skill in this event. Snowballs hit for a certain percentage, you cannot use any skills, spells, styles you have and the onliest reasons to get a kill is luck: You have to have less misses than your opponent. Another killreason could be teaming up or leeching, but that sucks, as in PvM and RvR too. Sorry, but I really dislike this event. Why not doing a real PvP event or a Joust? That would be more fun.
Furthermore: Frosted snowballs have an imba high weight and do imba less damage. How stupid is that? Frosted snowballs should be more dmg, probably a bug so. Another unbalanced thing: You can use horses in that zone. Should it be that way? As everything is restricted I think: no.
Then there is no protection against spawnkills, if you have some bad respawns you get instant -5 score.
The worldbuild itself is nice, the map is not bad and the textures look nice. But the gameplay, as said: No thanks.
Maybe we can have better events soon :)

I don't think this is the best way to thank Uthgard staff for all the time ( Staff whom gave of their rl time , in these Christmas period ) they spent to set this event for some kind of new fun to some players ( players that arent only geting fun from pve or pvp/rvr stuff ) . If its based on percentage and not lvl , why dont you people do some lvl 1 'ish chars to go there and get some kind of "Fresh" fun , atleast for a little time ? Wouldnt this kind of event give you some cut with the usual pve / rvr stuff you are usually doing in DAoC , and then by that way give you a new way / path of fun that's totally breaking with all usual known habits we all do have in DAoC.
I d just say a big tanks for all the time that Uthgard staff give to all of us for all kind of event or in game spent time , specialy as we all now this server is a Freeshard even if i havent installed yet this event files yet .
Best regards
Oceanz/Khalgore...... and some other ( many ) alt/twink ;-)

Ps : Merry Christmas and happy new year Uthgard
Pss : Thank you Uthsanta for the Golden Christmas Coin you gave to my lvl 4 viking at mularn bind stone < winks to Uthsanta > and i ve been proud to be one of your Gnum ( changed my viking into a tomte ) in Jordheim for a little time , big hugz Uthsanta :-)
