the zone is nice made

but ppl team up use buffs and horse, no fun for lowlvl as supposed :/

ball dissappear even cast interrupted

to make it fair balls should have fixed casttime without dex help

and about the weight, a low with 50 str cant carry enough balls to kill someone

Otherwise, I have noticed the same things as lorenz: once your ball hits anoter player, it breaks its spell, I have used and I have seen this by other players: you can chain snow balls and kill other players very quickly this way. is it on purpose?

I'm not sure however the dex influences the cast speed.

The weight is however pretty critical, since we try to take giant snwoballs or frosted snowballs with us to cruise in X-mas land => if you have more strength, you can carry more before heading back to reload your stock.

Poor lurikeens... :roll:

this 'you still have snowballs' thing was a good idea but to make it work properly you'd have to disable dropping snowballs...
drop->grab new balls->pick up dropped balls ;)

not my game... seems like u cant get rid of classes which just r faster than yours :/
not a bad idea tho^^

I don't see how admins could solve this kind of problem. I mean, maybe it's coded in the server part of DAOC, but if it's in the client part, the admins won't be able to change that. :lol:

Another thing is the /returnhome trick: when you finish a fight and to avoid having to rest in unsecure places, you /returnhome and then you heal yourself or rest quietly. Then you go back into the fight!


Players are such a pain in the *** for event makers.
I wish a lot of patience to the GMs! :wink:


PS: omg, a lurikeen is currently first in the ranking with the score 43! I take back what I said here above about poor Lurikeens with low strenght. :mrgreen:

Classes that are faster? Actually no one can use abilities in this zone. There
is a small bug which allows to have speed until your first death, but if you
see such people feel free to just report them. Using speed/abilities due to
a bug = exploit = Naaaaaayyyruuu what's your favorite place? ^^

I liked the idea of the event too, but the fact that you had to cooperate or use bugs like jumping around in housewalls and so on... to get good results was a little sad.
(I don't understand how someone in a battle in which all forces are equal can get a result like 48kills : 2deaths just an example! Don't guess me wrong I don't want to charge anyone. And my biggest respect and congratulations to all winners!)
I don't want to play unfair so I was on strike with this event even though there were some very nice prices to win.
I thought a long time about this and had a nice Idea which you might be able to realize.
Everyone knows that a good snowball fight is only fun if you have at least two teams shooting each other, here you can use some tactic and don't have to just run at one person and try to kill it.
I guess the most fun would be to have a team of 3 people mixed up from all realms, maybe 1alb 1hib 1mid who have to cooperate.
Of course kills should be counted for everyone who is in the group. This would make it possible to group with other players the next time (e.g. after ld or on another day).
Only problem would be that not always the same number of all realms will take part in this event. But I guess you could handle it as long as one crossrealm-member is in every group it should work.
So noone would try to cheat or favour own guild members because it gets way to intransparent whom you have to attack to favour your guild. And maybe it won't end up like all good prices go to Hibernia ^^. Even though I play Hib I guess not all prices should go to us.

Just an idea and not perfectly thought through, maybe you can work it out ;).

Actually I absolutely do not wonder why always some people complain about
events especiallly if it was a "snowball-fight" event. Back in school there have
always been children running crying to the teacher :mrgreen:

And now lets take a look at your suggestions:
1) 48:2 ratio - I guess the player used to play "smart", camped at the
"frozen snowball" site and killed the ones who wanted these precious
snowballs while the camper already had the stronger frozen snowballs.

2) Why forming groups? First problem is that you always needed even
teams - what happens if one member of the group leaves? Both groups
get kicked out of the snowball-fight area?
Second problem is that you would probably need an extra zone for the
group setup. The DAoC engine is kinda unflexible meaning while in an
instance you can't do "on the fly" change of groupmembers. It would
be difficult to differentiate the score of nold/new group members.
Perhaps it could be done, but I guess it would need a lot coding to do.

3) Buguse/Exploit - Uthgards rules concerning buguse/exploit automatically
become effective within event zones. If someone breaks the rules -> /callgm
and report him.

4) favor guild/realm members - the event was planed to be some kind of
arnachistic (survival of the fittest) schoolground-tempered snowball fight ^^
If some people favored their realm or guildmates it is their own decision
and if I take a closer look at the results at least I feel not sorry for the ones
complaining about that topic. #30 of the result board had a 1:1 k/d ratio
meaning that only ~30 people actively participated while Uthgard usually
has got about 300 players. I assume the other 280 players did not want
to have any rewards, but well ... complaining afterwards is always easy, isn't
it? :wink:


Congratulations to the participants and the winners who seem to have
understood that this event was to have fun besides the usual RvR.

or these just have not got higher stuff than toa or a better pc so they might feel like the unwanted part hm? there have been enough rumors about guildgrps in this eventzone..and for the part,that the snowball was canceled after u got hit and urs was still flying, or u move while ball flies..its the same for scouts etc,who shoot,and have to wait for the arrow to hit to move again,or lose their arrows.. same for the moment,when they get attacked..arrow is gone.._(mostly hits target "visible" but not with effects)..

i pers. dont care,im running toa on my notebook..i cant go to tajendi (not only bc toa,also bc it does need a large amount of time) and i could not go to the snowthingi.. and i still cant see the test-puppets at my maincity. allways the same :)

for sethor point 4 how about that 280 players are to much bored from bug use in this zone and only enterd 1 time the event zone. one of my guild member has -68 kills because he plays bad ? no its like bug use in mass there i saw self and was often enough killed during it. I for example was 2 times in the zone and each time the same.

1. throwing trough house walls.
2. i was first thrower after i hit him down to 50% he hit me and ruptet permanently and killed me and i got no balls more out.
3. team/realm playing

its a realy good idea the event because each level could enter it. But to many bugs still was in there.
also i got 18 snowballs and they had a wight from 98,2 and i was naield on ground with them.

but all this was reportet and also per /callgm posted/messaged.

Well, I have been in the event zone just when it was opened and I had none
of the problems you described. You just have to think about one thing. The
snowballs are bolt-type casts.

-> Movement interrupts the cast.
-> Getting hit while casting interrupts.
-> If the snowball/bolt was launched before the target disappears behind a
wall it will hit the target
-> If you mention that you will get rupted the next times you have to hide
behind an obstacle and wait for the target to come in your line-of-sight.
-> weight: on the first day I ran around with ~30normal ~40giant ~30frozen
snowballs and I had absolutely no problem

It is incredible how many excuses you list and especially to mention team/realm
playing is a joke. If you see some people teaming up the only thing you have
to do is to call in for help and everything would have been fine. The only
considerable problem is the by danger mentioned ToA incompatibility.

Sethor you hsve not right @ all because:

Duke was running after me and throws, throws throws ..... till i'm dead no chance to run away

there was no rupt u can throw while u take hit from other players

only thing what i have to say i i tried to get rewards with 10 chars and my best skill was -8 i tried it with each char but dont have luck like other players to meet 2 ppl with nearly 5% life or whatelse ^^
