Hey all!

I heared that many player really like the old RA-System, but I really ask myself why... after looking at the RA's I really see many disadvantages for nearly every class.

First of all I dislike the timer of all the activ RA's. If u play 8vs8... how long do you wait for next inc? Most times u have to wait 15 minutes, since this is the longest RA-timer (yes, some groups really regenerate their RA's before running again)

So with the new RA-system you have to wait 30 minutes now?

Ok but beside this, did anyone of you really take a look at this System?

Everyone just remember the good old times on live-servers but you don't see your disadvantages.

First of all: whats good? Every DET tank will have DET 5 with RR4 - really nice because you wont stand in any CC now.

But Reaver, Valewalker, Thane wont have DET - hahaha - hf with deleting your level 50 char if this is implemented :P

For every supporter its nice - no Charge anymore... but who needs Charge with DET 5...
Ok what about the bards now for example?

3 Berserks on you.. they cant charge, but cannot really CC them... oh I could use my SOS... nah wait... bard won't have SOS...
Ok the Bard dies.. what now? Skald on one druid and the other druid is busy with the 3 Berserk AT... now how u Rezz the Bard without a Perfect Rezz? (Ok maybe the Warden could do)

I really could go on like this.
Think about this, think about your class (or just read it through in the link I posted).

Will you really not miss your RA's? I guess you will miss some.

For everyone who says its just me thats is whining... what do I loose?

Ok Healer can spec: MOC, DI, PR, Purge, RP, MCL - so for me it makes absolutely no difference, since I dont have BOF.

Did I allready mentioned, that all the RR5 abilities wont exist anymore too?

So did u ever see me using my RR5 in RvR with purpose to win? (No I only use it for fun sometimes but for me its just a funny PvM RA.. but the other classes really use it ^^)

So you still like old RA-System?
I don't like it even I take not many disadvantages from it.

i love old ra`s cause its not all realms get the same ****** like with NF NF ra`s are for toa servers not for uthgard... think about charge or sos without bg :roll: it really makes sence that Reaver or Valewalker dont have det they have atm more dmg output then offtanks (ok except well played bersis^^) so they shouldn`t have det also...

and det 5 whats against that?Oo so not to have 4l4 to get 5 u get just get it faster wayne?!?!

i really like old ra`s cause it will take out some balance issues like charge wihtout bg or sos without speedtrap ;) and casting speed improvement via ra`s !

@Sonnenschein: You mentioned that some groups wait 15 mins for their ras before the start again. I think i know what people you mean. But waiting for ras coming back is just annoying...why dont you run again earlier? When enemies used ras too then its fair again. Or is it just the fear that you could loose? I never wait for my ras coming back when i solo rvr or group...only exception is when i exactly know that i have to fight more then one enemy and i wont kill anything without active ras, but its a rare occation anyway. Its much easier to invite a second man in that case and its ok again.

@Malle: In some ways you are right, but in the end it does not affect the combat that much because all realms have the same opportunities with NF

So which daoc version was it when NF was implemented?
I guess it was long before 1.80?

sure everyone got used to the new system and now is scared about changes - thats normal.

there are so many changes you can barly get em all on paper . but i recommend you to check all classes - not just in your own realm - so you will get a rough picture how it will look like.

the old - ra system would make uthgard truly unique. every realm will get their signatures ra´s back !even every single class will be unique again.

you gain a lot more choices to customize your toon to your needs with the old ra system . yes you have to spend points for prequesites , but the overall cost is about 1/3 less !

sure every class will loose some active ra´s - but if you can see the whole picture it will still work out.no class will be unplayable after such a change .

PLEASE DON`T JUST LOOK WHAT YOUR PRECIOUS CLASS IS LOOSING - YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY WHITE SNOWFLAKE IN A BLIZZARD . OTHERS "LOOSE" STUFF TOO. BUT OVERALL IT WILL FINALLY BE BALANCED THE WAY IT WAS DESIGNED. you are not loosing specpoints or something , its just some ra´s that you should never have gotten in the first place.

and 30 min reuse on the most drastic , sometimes even overpowered ra´s is just fair. i always hated it when people dump their tier3 active ra mindlesly on a much weaker enemy group when the fight was over from the beginning cause they knew it will be up next inc anyway.

30 minutes is a long time , yes .people can win a fight without a 10/15min reuse i-win-button without having to rely on it - think about it.

the whole new frontier ra system is based on toa-boni and ml´s to balance things out . none of that is given. +cast/melee speed , + af , +melee/cast damage +hp ... just to name a few ones . nothing of that is given on uth and most ra´s (which are supposed to be countered with ml´s) with the current system just got no countermeasure at all currently.

btw charge is still existant in the old ra system , it just doesn´t work the same. its a 15 second speedburst without being cc-imune. zerker/merc/bm get it for FREE at lvl40.

check out other active ra´s . a lot of them got changed - SOS for example works VERY different. its a speedburst and if you get mezzed/stunned you can still move , but you can´t attack or use spells. thats a major difference.

about the missing rr5 abilities : some of the rr5 abilities where active abilities in the old ra system - so you don´t miss em completely.

i don´t wanna write all the stuff i´ve written in like 3 other threads before again . just check em out.

nf system aug dex2 = 12 dex
of system aug dex2 = 12 dex

nf system mop 1/2/3/4/5 =3/9/17/27/39
of system mop 1/2/3/4/5 =5/10/15/20/25

if the dex requirement is the only thing that is worrying you ^^

see it this way ,
5 points = 12 dex and 5% better critchance.
8 points = 12 dex and 10% better critchance.
14points= 12 dex and 15% better critchance.
everything above wouldn´t be cost efficient for me.

it´s a complete different system !

check carefully what the old stuff does . in most cases its not even close to the newer stuff.

even toughness got changed !

of toughness 3%/6%/9%/12%/15%
what about 9% more hp for 10 points ?sounds pretty sweet,or ?

don´t like your evade rate as a zerker ?
spend 14 points for qui2 dodger3 and you´ll evade 9% better ^^

but also you got other very useful passives that make it obsolete to "waste" more points into aug.stat . increased cast/melee speed , more offhand damage , more offhand hits . you have to spread your points a bit more. you can´t afford to put a single thing on 5 cause its just not worth it with the old system.

so many "tools" just got deleted. check this out :
Serving the Tether (for mentalist)
All enemy summoned/controlled creatures (i.e. pets) in the spell’s radius immediately turn on their masters and attack them. This is a ground-targetted radius effect spell.

Trip (hero,bm,arms,merc,warri,bers)
Point-blank radius snare that reduces the movement of all enemies in the area by 30% for 12 seconds.

Hm, stealthers evade a lot already, but with dodger...but they get a nerf with viper, true...

the stealthers world will be upside down.

there are drastic changes on mastery of stealth (3,6,9 points)
[Grants 5% movement speed increase while stealthed per level of this ability.] sb,infi,ns only

viper (nightshade only , 30 min reuse)
For 30 seconds, all of your DoT poisons will do double damage.

vanish (infiltrator only ,30 min reuse)
You will immediately hide, regardless of action state or in-combat timer.

as of patch 1.62 or something like this see hidden will show archer / minstrels only at 1/4 to 1/2 clipping range (depending on stealth spec). canceled by camouflage just like MoS in NF. before they changed this, it was impossible to play a solo bow specced archer ...one kill (-> camou down) and you could alrdy type in /rel ^^

Actually i would love to have the OF RAs back,cause this would on one side prevent stupid RA Dumping fights (if you have 30 mins cooldown you will think twice before you activate a RA) and on the other Hand it would be more friendly to new Players,cause they can get the core RAs like DET much faster and cheaper.
Also i would love to finally have a possibility to get more Castspeed and to have really unique RAs for every Realm.
