Proposal for custom change by adding instant porters

Greetings GMs & players,

I understand that instant porters in RvR is not a 1.65 feature, but at this point of the server population I think it would really help with the 8v8 action. For example today we ran in Odin's Gate and fought a lot of fg's, but then most groups did not come back and we basically wasted 1h porting from one place to another to find enemies.

I just think it´s a good idea at this time when there are basically max 3 8v8 groups running from alb/mid - fewer from hib.

Also when losing to a 8v8 in Emain to mid (by alb) it seems like a real weird plan to use your /release house qbind, try to port back and miss the port, and just waste basically 10-15 minutes to get back to the action.

I can see people disagreeing to this, but I would actually like to improve the 8v8 fighting on this server.

It's a good idea... SOMETHING needs to be done NA time to consolidate the dwindling action. So much of the night is spent chasing action, the frontiers are waaaaay too big for maybe the 50-100 people who are in RvR during NA times.

the pure-classic train is loooong long gone. pop just isnt high enough to justify all that bs.

Imho the timed port was never a good idea to begin with. Maybe on a server that constantly sports 3000 people prime time it's a good idea to separate them like that, but on a regular sized server it's just plain annoying when it's easily possible that 8 people will waste 20 minutes because they were late for the first port, and a person missed the next port. It's bad for action in general, it creates less inc on all sides and people are more likely to just get bored and stop while whoever they're fighting is waiting for ports. Don't even get me started on the constant re-potting of unstackable pots and having to wait another 10-20 mins to continue playing.

Unfortunately good ideas like this will never be implemented on Uthgard. If you implement this, you might as well add bind stones to each PvP area, the battlegrounds included. It might actually promote more action, less wasted time, and an overall more enjoyable experience for everyone aka a more fun server. Yea...who am i kidding this will never happen.

wasted 1,5 hours chasing action right now too...

Put port timer to 1-3 min unless there are 1500+ players on.

This way the classic port cycle is still in action with this custom change if there ever will be that many players online again.

Drah wishes 50-100. Na it's tilt vs us, if were both lucky to field 8. That's it. There's some keep takers but they dodge hard u won't find them wherever they're going bc keeps all claimed by logged out guilds. Uthgard is great boys whered the 8mans go =/ porters, meh maybe. Realm war map? Maybe. Dunno, how about I write you all a check every month to just form up 8 and play the game vs us and tilt?

Well, NA being completely dead is a whole other issue. We play in EU and tbh the long port timer is slightly infuriating. Get on pad, wait 10 minutes. Someone lded while zoning? Wait another 10 minutes. Someone's port bugged out? Wait another 10 minutes. Honestly, we spend half the time we could be playing just waiting on things. Classic or not, it's just simply wasted time, there is nothing challenging or nostalgic about it. I doubt it would help NA prosper at this point, as there is literally just you guys (Passion) and Tilt left, but it could keep EU happier if we at least had a significantly faster port. It's really the only time of day left with good action.

Last evning was ****** on hib side. Couldnt find the Romu zerg, keept missing then, ran out of DL, got insta smacked by 8mans waiting for lowbie pugers, random hib pugs just loged. I suggest make the map close in like in that pubg game. The zones are to big for so few ppl.

Pretty sure NF was put in with that in mind. I'm not quite sure what it is that people like about OF maps so much. The long run, the ridiculous Alb zones where you will never find anyone, the lack of keep porting, or the lack of action indicators(cups, trees, hammers, fights)?

Agreed. I wasn't around for the OF vs NF conversation back in the day, but I'm uncertain why people are so keen on OF.
