I posted this in a specfic class forum and found that it would be better to ask this here so here goes .....

Ok I am pretty new to Uthgard, maybe a month old (give or take) and I first rolled a Necro that is now 43 (won't be long till 50). My Tailoring is almost LGM, I got my House/Merchant set up and am making good money farming and selling on my Merchant. So I about got myself setup good money wise & now I am thinking about what class to roll as my RvR class for when I get my Necro to 50.

I was considering a Cleric since every MMO I usually play some form of Heal type class. The point behind this post is ..... k, so I'm 50 now, I'm old and my reflexes are not what they used to be. I cannot keep up with these young folks with those "thundercat ninja" reflexes they have so I am not even going to try to. But 100 years ago on Mordred PvP I did experience 8v8 on the Hib Loop (If any old school Mordred folks remember that) and I main'd a Healer in our 8v8 group but as I said that was a 100 years ago and several SEVERAL MMO's ago. Uthgard has shown me I am 100% a total noob again but I do want to try (one more time) to experience 8v8 one more time and see if I still can do it.

So for an older and SLIGHTLY slower ;) player, what class would you guys think would best fit me? I am simply looking for suggestions. I want to find a class thats going to be a little easier to manage in serious 8v8 and yes I know now I am prolly going to suck when I first get back into it, but I will relearn and I will be fine in the end once I throw myself into a class. I don't plan to play tons of alts just my Necro and RvR Character.

I am leaning towards Cleric atm, but if anyone thinks something other than Cleric would better fit me please don't keep it a secret ;)
Suggestions anyone?

[Edit:Cleaning] Paladins aren't highly desired for 8 man, so unless you have a guild who runs rvr, you may struggle to find a squad.

If you want to play a healer, Cleric is pretty much your only route on Alb. You don't have to do any mezzing but you do need to be on top of healing/buffing and stunning when need be. Cleric is probably the easiest to play in rvr out of all the healers on daoc.

Well, I don't necessarily have to play a Cleric, I'm just looking for an overall less SUPER L33T class to play that I can easily handle since I haven't RvR'd ... I have 8v8'd on Mordred a 100 years ago but never RvR'd so ya need some guidance.

Pretty much anything that doesnt Flop instantly when you react a bit slower.

Support wise i suggest cleric.
Casters are pretty much a no go.
Minstrel is too Hard for beginners
Melee wise arms. Merc is only good if you dont mind hotswapping your Offhand for your shield.

Rolled a Cleric :/
I "could" roll a Sorc and learn to play it solo RvR for fun. Sorcs seems good for solo RvR ... or would a Cab be better for solo?

Sorc would be better for solo. You need at least some form of speed or stealth to solo here unless you don't mind hiding in milegates or behind trees all day. Sorc can even 2v1 in some cases.

Sorc is also great if you can charm some buff/healing pets. For the frontiers, the empyrean elders in Hib have spec buffs and heals and isolationist clerics/arawnite shamaness in Alb have some base buffs as well as heals. I'm not sure about heal/buff pets in Midgard, everyone used to use the horse but it got nerfed. The sorc I run with usually grabs a cockatrice when in Midgard- for the stun.

Cab can be decent soloer in a 1v1 situation because your pet can do some serious damage while you kite but the lack of speed severely limits your options. Also, any class with root or mez will make your pet fairly useless.

Depends what you consider fail. If it was intended to make another individual laugh, it succeeded.

To respond to the original poster, cleric will work just fine. Your bread and butter is the spread heal, which doesn't require particularly fast reaction speed to utilize to its fullest. Bonus things are situational stuns, and curing disease, but the truth is that even a mediocre cleric can serve a mediocre group. (whereas a mediocre sorc is often just a waste of a spot)

Using spreadheal in 8v8...

And ppl wonder why Alb PUGs are cringeworthy.

Honestly, it's a bit late in the game to start learning a new class. You had some years to do that.

Most groups won't last long enough for it to matter. If you're getting your spread-heals off and keeping your group alive, it'll buy you as much time as is needed for most PUGS. PUGS don't fall apart due to lack of efficient healing but because of critical mistakes like major overextension/not using core abilities correctly.

People with good minds can play the game well, regardless of the class.
