Hey everyone,

I think one of the reasons why Hibernia is lacking players in emain is the fact that you have to run the whole way from DL to Emain which takes terribly long as a non-spead solo class.

I really felt like playing Hibernia, so i did a realmswitch, created a character but could not find a group. So i decided to head out to Emain on my own, walked to emain for what felt like eternity just to get killed after like 3 minutes. I was ******, but decided to give it a second try, ran to emain and got killed by some Trio right on entering it! This was so incredibly frustrating, I just deleted all my Hib chars and went back to mid. I feel like my lifetime is way too precious to spend it playing running simulator.

Usually I play Hunter or Healer on mid and in the last two weeks Ive seen maybe 2 rangers and did not have a single fight with a Nightshade since creating my Hunter.

Of course you can now say "the last time I played there were a lot of hibs in emain". Well yes, there might have been, but the reason is just people switching the realm for the sake of having any intersting fights. Roaming Emain with 4 mid grps while Hibernia has 1FG out is just terribly boring. Once the server goes life this will not be happening.

I know the staff is not very fond of custom changes but I think you should really think about giving Hibernia an improved Hastener in emain (and maybe for the other realms in their Home frontier too). You could maybe increase the hasteners speed, increase its duration or both on a moderate level.

I think this could really increase the pop of hib, especially nightshades and rangers.

Whilst it might be true that running to Emain is a PITA, any custom changes like this are not authentic to the goal of the server, so would only every be entertained after all other patch correct changes have been made.

We just need the community to break the cycle of requiring to RVR in Emain.

What you are saying is true, the problem at the moment is general low pop and everybody going to emain because of its easy layoutsand you run into each other often. Since I started playing daoc I never understood while people go to emain for 90% of the time to just run in circles. Id much rather prefer people going into every frontier and trying to raid keeps. But I have no clue how to make ppl do that. In old frontiers people always went to emain and the other zones were pretty dead.

But how does one break this cycle? First of all you need a large population, because with a low population people will always decide on a single zone to meet in. But I have no clue how to encourage ppl going to the other Zones.

this authentic livelike crap kills the server, it wasn't all good back in the days especially if its just a waste of time like moving 15mins to the place were rvr is happening. this whole thing was based on a fullserver concept with 3k+ pop where alot of rvr happened on all kind of places but lets face it these days are over. rvr will happen in emain. maybe few times in odins or hadrians as well but it will be the same situation there for alb/mid as for hibs in emain.

Im afraid there is no way to move the RvR out of Emain (and i hope im going to be proved wrong): the population isnt high enough to fill the whole frontier(s), and Emain is simply the best and fastest "arena" available to the players.

New Frontiers sucked but its not that Old Frontiers were particullary good, this "Emain or nothing" issue has always been present and it wont get better with a pop under 1k players.

We either accept that we're playing a 3 factions arena pvp game and make the arena easy to access for Hibs (teleport to Crau), or change the layout of the frontier designing one that fits this server.

Which sounds crazy, i know, but there isnt any other working solution.

The combination of keep takes being pointless and emain being the easiest to navigate and actually find somebody between hills and trees is why emain is the place to rvr. The only way we will be able to encourage our relatively small population to head elsewhere is to add incentive. Realm points for keep takes gives small mans and even soloers the opportunity to head out and make use of their time even when there may be little to no real pvp action.

Sounds like a good idea but it does create another issue: groups actually avoiding each other and farming RPs by taking empty keeps.
It wouldnt be a first time... and not even a second, if theres a door open to exploits someone will use it.

Increasing the duration of the speed buff could work too. Currently it's at 4 minutes.

If people want to farm realm points by takin keeps then good on them. Even making multiple thousand rps is a drop in the ocean compared to the millions required to get anywhere. It brings action anyway.

I like the idea of longer hastener duration. Although that does nothing for group combat.

Well, whatever you will do about it (most likely nothing) you either give it to all of the three frontiers or to none at all...

Groups avoiding each other to farm keeps isnt exactly the kind of "action" we need.

A strong RP bonus (like 50%) for killing players next to or inside a keep would make a lot more sense if you want to bring the action out of Emain (or most likely to Dun Crauchon ).

RPs for empty, undefended keeps? This is a dangerous path to take, a path that leads to keep farming and/or keep trading.

I disagree. It's an incentive to go to other frontiers. Defender bonuses already exist if I'm correct (?) thus bringing action. As it stands, there is no point in taking keeps. Relics are worthless to 8man groups which is what is keeping the server alive at the moment.
I would say that any action is better than no action at all.

Why do you think relics are worthless? Just trying to understand.

All these keep bonuses. It would be a shame if a Hibernian guild captured and maintained a keep outside of Emain Macha to draw action.
