Dmg add buffs shouldn't work with ranged weapons like bow in fact in the tooltip of daoc official site , ranger skill section, it says:

Damage Add:
Target does more damage with every melee weapon hit

http://www.darkageofcamelot.com/content/class-library-ranger

I was talking also with a guy , that told me that it worked like this since daoc beta.

So here on Uthgard is it intended, or a mistake?

Archery on live was changed to a spellcasting system. To see how damage adds interact with old archery, go equip a shortbow or a crossbow (mercenary, infil, armsman, blademaster or something) and shoot something on live. Post the results

i haven't got any live account , but i have the old 1.57 char plan installed and it says clearly "Target does more damage with every melee weapon hit" , and bow isn't a melee weapon.

Edit:
i found an old archery daoc video, and dmg add was working, i think i have no more dubt. Thx anyway.

as an old live daoc player i can tell you bow is some kind of melee weapon, it deals slash thrust and crush damage therefore dmg add works! at least it was on live!

indeed, as Abydos said the archery was changed by later patches from time to time, at least bow classes have been changed to caster classes, but that was not in classic times, so arrows count as physical attack (slash/trust/blunt) therefore damageadd works in classic.

In classic DAoC bow damage is Slash/Thrust/Crush and therefore counts as melee damage, though archers were changed to magic later in the game.

I'm not sure if this video was from live, but the poster says it was made back in 2003.
The quality is not that great, but if you look at the buffs and the bow shots, you will see + extra damage message on each bow shot and melee, later in the video you will see him without the damage add buff and not getting the extra damage. There is three parts you can look through, if its from live.
