Critical Shot question

Does archer critical shot penetrate bladeturn? I don't remember it going through bladeturn, I seem to remember having to do 2x crit shot so the 2nd would land.
Also, does penetrating arrow affect critical shot? I was under the impression that this only worked with normal shots. Thanks Cheers,

Crit Shot does not go through blade turn. What you would have to do is a normal shot and follow up with a crit. There is a chance that the first shot will cause them to stop and face you, which may give you time to land the critshot. Just be ready for a CC or interrupt.
On live with the new archery, they had changed it so crit shot would bypass bladeturn (not break) and has no requirements except you have to be stealthed. Crit Shot does not benefit from penetration arrow, that i know of. |

Crit Shot has nothing to do with Bladeturn penetration.
It's called Penetrating Arrow which you get with bow spec. You can only penetrate BT which is not self casted, e.g. BT on a hero, but not BT on the warden or any caster, making it almost useless. Killing every caster with two shots because you can ignore any BT is fun but has nothing to do with live like. Arrows And Bladeturn All three Archers now receive a new skill called "Penetrating Arrow", which allow them to penetrate, to some extent, Bladeturn spells. Here's the details: - Penetrating Arrow will never go through Bladeturns (both pulsing and single-target) on the character that cast the spell. This means that a Warden who casts a bladeturn on himself will never have his own personal bladeturn penetrated. - Bladeturns cast on group/realm mates can be penetrated. So a Hero that has a pulsing bladeturn (or single target) on him from a friendly Warden can have that bladeturn penetrated. - Archers receive Penetrating Arrow based on their specialization in their particular Bow skill. They get Penetrating Arrow 1 at 30th spec, Penetrating Arrow 2 at 40th spec, and Penetrating Arrow 3 at 50th spec. Lower levels of PA do less damage by not fully penetrating the bladeturn. The highest level of PA does normal damage. - Additionally, Longshot and Volley penetrate ALL Bladeturns, regardless of who cast them. - Please note that in this version we have made sure that self bladeturns will no longer be overwritten by other bladeturns. |

A refund is granted for players who have already purchased it. - Volley has had its cost reduced to 8 points and its reuse time is now 15 seconds, significantly shorter than before. A refund is granted for players who have already purchased it. - The initial time to prepare a Volley is now half of what it was. That also means volley will still have 35% chance to hit like it was before server close? or chance to hit will be much higher ? Best Sniper Ranger on Uthgard since 2007.

It will probably still be the custom option they decided to go with after they nerfed the scouts slam + volley combo. Bladeturn always was a tricky matter, especially on Uth since penetration arrow was just whack, and volley got stoped by bladeturns as well. |

Not to derail the conversation but i thought this was worth explaining. The problem with volley was that post NF, there wasnt a proximity range limitation to it (as far as i can recall) meaning you could fire it from point blank hence the scout + volley crap. People have mixed up (or dont know) the behavior of PRE NF Volley and POST NF Volley. There were lots of reasons why scouts didnt slam + volley in post NF, and i wont go into them. The technical explanation for why you never saw any archer - PRE NF - use volley in this way is because volley had a min distance requirement for its use, therefore if you werent at x units away from your Ground Target, you couldnt fire it off. Unfortunately i wasnt able to export my web documentation to support the PRe NF volley behavior to counter the custom changes to the game mechanic on uthgard. Just an FYI, that miss rate seems way too high but unfortunately i dont have the documentation to 100% verify it one way or the other.

hey i just want to give a personal experience (ofc no ss or chatlog proof)
at the old days i made tons of lv24 toons for thidranki, completly templated. it happened sometimes (~15-20% maybe) that my scout was able to bypass the blateturn if the target was below my level (blue conned). you received the message, critshot blabla penetrated blabla's blade turn. those target were always 1shot because of a lowlvl and bad equip. this event only occured in this bg as far as i remeber. it was at the patch state where necro was able to put its pet behind the ck and cast without any los trough the walls/keepgates. |
