"Livelike" vs Custom changes

To avoid hijacking a thread, i'd like to get your opinions on these. I''d like to see the ones i usually disagree with give "their" opinions. My theory is that anything that does not benefit you... or causes you grief, you want gone, but anything that gives you an advantage you will fight tooth and nail for.

Keep in mind the list below is custom changes that are NOT LIVELIKE. I want all the "LIVELIKE" fans to give their opinions since one of the recent post contained custom horses which many people dislike.

I did not open this post to fight against any custom change. I am genuinly interested in the opinion of some of the hardline Livelike players.

Custom list:

1. Animist pet cast limit.
(Sleepwell - i dont care)
(Nayeh, Xedie, Celteen, Pweet, anyone else)

2. Removed

3. Custom Items (Taj/shoulder pads/other custom)
(Sleepwell - i dont care).. I have taj items in my template but would remake one)
(Nayeh, Xedie, Celteen, Pweet, anyone else)

4. More custom items
(Sleepwell - i dont care), i will adapt.)
(Nayeh, Xedie, Celteen, Pweet, anyone else)

5. Charge value - removed

6. Insta Kill zone at border keep
(Sleepwell - i dont care)
(Nayeh, Xedie, Celteen, Pweet, anyone else)

7.Housing merchants with no items
(Sleepwell - i dont care) would love to be able buy craft items in housing, but i have adjusted)
(Nayeh, Xedie, Celteen, Pweet, anyone else)

8. Pet's stop following players who stealth (1.88 patch)
(Sleepwell - beyond patch limit? No opinion really. I have other classes that woudl benefit it was the other way)

9. Horseroutes in OF & Porttimer of 7 minutes instead 15
(Sleepwell - i dont care), i will adapt, but this is somewhat discussed in the other topic.)

10. Ranges on Con buffs
(Sleepwell - i dont care), i will adapt. This would bring on another subject of buffbots being in pk's, but i guess we would have to see how it worked out.

11. Equipping poisoned weapons without Envenom skill removes poison
(Sleepwell - used this on live a lot. I played an inf on live and poisoned many thousands of weapons for guildies. Gamechanging imo? Yes, but very LIVELIKE)

12. Remains droprate and taxidermist delay
(Sleepwell - i dont care)

13. /xp off
(Sleepwell - i dont care)- have adapted. I like bgs, but if its too zergy in big boy i log or craft.)

14. RR13
(Sleepwell - at 1-2 hoursa night, 4 times a week, i will never get there, so i dont care)

15. Horses
(Sleepwell - i dont care)
(Nayeh, Xedie, Celteen, Pweet, anyone else - i know where most of you stand)

16. Events and Event rewards

17. Underwater in classic zones
(Sleepwell - i dont care).. haha.. i think there should be a lake around all mgs :lol: )

I want an empty custom list.
Port timers is the only topic we can discuss about due to lack of players.

I wouldn't fight you on that, but i think we know its never going to happen. I was surprised to see you say this though. I may have pre-judged that since your bard was RR11 you would have fought for at least one of the custom changes. Appologies for pre-judging :D

My opinion on the mentioned aspects:

#1: I don't care
#3: I wouldn't care too much as well, except for the need of rebuilding my templates.
#4: see #3
#6: Would love to see that fixed
#7: I don't care
#8: I don't care
#9: Well for the sake of the already flawed rvr population I wouldn't love this one too much. (This goes for port times, Idc either about horse routes)
#10: Giivee!
#11: I don't care
#12: I don't care
#13: I don't care
#14: Dunno if RR11 was in the game by then, but as I'll never climb that much higher I wouldn't mind that one as well.
#15: Remove them!
#16: Actually there were Events on live, dunno about rewards, but as we only get Uthalis nowadays I don't care.
#17: I hate underwater stuff in every game!
#18: Would be a nice feature, but it would kill parts of the population I assume.
#19: I don't care.
#20: I don't care.
#21: I will never have more then 100p on one toon.
#22: I don't care.

All this custom changes seems nice.
I would like to see some adjustments on #9 (port timer -> no more timer :oops: ) or #15 (something that would bring horses far away from any fight)

And it would be great to pick some improvements made on live after 1.69 (or 1.80) and apply them to Uthgard.

But it's only preferences. I liked DAoC before 1.69, i liked it after 1.69 and even with ToA/DR and all this weird stuff that Mythic added.
So one more custom or one more feature removed, i will still enjoy to play on Uthard.

I wouldn't mind a 100%-Classic, 0% custom list. But I do think a few points can always be justified with a custom stamp. Specifically the BuffBot and Envenom ones however as they do heavily influence gameplay (in a negative direction).

Custom list:

1. Animist pet cast limit.
- Don't care.  It would give animists something else to do besides spam shrooms in PvE.

3. Custom Items (Taj/shoulder pads/other custom)
- Tajendi - Beautiful zone, just wish they channeled those efforts to SI so we never ended up in this mess.
- Shoulder Pads - Would require the Staff to examine literally everysingle item in-game for review (There are about 5 levels of Padding).  The current state allows the staff to introduce a Money-Sink of cosmetic changes that does not influence game-play.  Also has no effect in Classic-Models.
- Other Items - Wish they would eliminate all old bugged items if they still exist (PowerRegen, SpellRange etc).  I'd rather not have them at all, but they do give a purpose for raiding certain zones.  Just look at most of the old DF loot compared to the Basalt/Brimstone gear we have.

4. More custom items
- Just going to assume Reskins here.  Reskins implement another money-sink into the game, only a cosmetic change, so no influence in combat.

6. Insta Kill zone at border keep
- Fix it please.

7.Housing merchants with no items
- Promotes a sense of "population" when you enter the main-cities (They introduced the craft bonus on live to get people to leave houses, just like how they removed Instanced Dungeons).  Plus this makes the use of 3rd-party auto-clicking tools more difficult.

8. Pet's stop following players who stealth (1.88 patch)
- Fix it please.

9. Horseroutes in OF & Porttimer of 7 minutes instead 15
- Don't Care.  Just wish this "RvR Revamp" was implemented already however to repurpose even visiting other zones and keeps (Keeps to influence RelicGuard count etc).

10. Ranges on Con buffs
- Keep It.  Other servers allow them to produce an "illusion of population".  Having BuffBots would make players more self-sefficient (less grouping, less interaction with others), not everyone can load multiple accounts to this day . . . I'm sure you know all the other reasons.

11. Equipping poisoned weapons without Envenom skill removes poison
- I used "Snare" poisons on live all the time.  I don't care if this is reverted, I'd rather them stay away though.  However since we no longer have barrels and a tighter restriction on space, it might not be that bad to have once again.  It would still heavily influence RvR in a negative direction though.

12. Remains droprate and taxidermist delay
- More of a nuisance, however introduces another money-sink into the game, creates a game within itself (Gotta catch em' all!).  Only cosmetic, no influence on balance.

13. /xp off
- Glad it's gone.

14. RR13
- Don't care.  There would be no sense of "progression" however if this were removed.

15. Horses
- Remove Mounts and Frontier horses.

16. Events and Event rewards
-  Events actually exist on live, usually not hosted by staff members (rarely they are) but they are seasonal.  Don't recall if they ran them during the Classic-Era however.  I'd rather keep them as they give a change in the game (Since we don't see progression in Patching, implementing new things.)

17. Underwater in classic zones
- Don't care.

18. /level command
- Keep it away, it gets lonely for new players to the server if everyone else is /level'ing.  Hence why the command was later removed on live.

19. Boats
- Don't care

20. Custom Seige Engines
- Don't care.  Really don't know the reasons why we use the New anyway.  The Trebs don't help much due to not having keep-walls to destroy.

21. Being able to carry more than 214p
- Don't care.  I don't see where this hurts the game other than being able to have a "Hall of Fame: Capitalist" rank.

22. House rent payment from consignment merchant is disabled
- Don't care.  Pretty sure houses would still start the demolation process after a certain period of paying through the lockboxes on live however.

Other important custom changes:

1.Dragon (-drops)
2. Highlevel Items not working on lowlevel chars
3. Xp penalty in Groups with a high levelgap

Most annoying custom things:
1. horses
2. Dragon (-drops)
3. New Ra´s with non Toa-Setting! (most important). (Charge, Viper, no castspeed etc.)

Nice things:
1. Tinderboxes
2. Porttimer
3. one or two non 1.69 things, that staff did not know about :P

Customchanges i wish to see:
NS-Heal :oops:

There will be a group of people out there who will want this realm to be entirely Mythic-like. Exactly like vanilla, drop rates/xp rates, basically everything and you will not be able to please them unless it is exactly like vanilla.

These people have their nostalgia goggles on so tight it's cutting off the bloodflow to their brain and they believe that vanilla was perfect and nothing was wrong with it.

The only once effected by OF horse routes are solos and well I say wrong game anyway.
Not worth it to keep up a custom change.

Most solos use horses so why you care about them lol :lol: Or are there any Fgs on Horses out? :P

Cry about horses (which max influence 2 vs x rvr) but damn the solos rofl.
