Hi!

As a former gamer (alb/exc) I've decided to come back and do some RvR'ing for the sake of old. This post is me seeking Uthgard-players' advice of which realm to choose. These are my options that I will be choosing between:

Hib:
Eldritch & Bard
Alb:
Sorc & Minstrel

First of all, I always enjoyed playing complicated classes w/ a lot of options on the qb's. I used to love my Theurg back in the days and never really had a prb sneaking around the quad-trains attention or other nasty stuff. I read peoples posts about Eld's being ganked before they ever put a stun out - that's not part of my worries, tbh..
I always liked the music-guys and therefore will be lvl'ing one as an alt on the side.

So, between these classes, how much they are needed and how much either hib or alb needs another player - what to choose? Will you find groups on hib, or is it just mids and albs out there? Does groups on hib run with an eld as a disrupter these days, or are they just doubling up on bards? Are minstrel part of the alb setup?

Thanks!

Elds are very common to run in hib groups. Minstrels get RvR groups, but they aren't a core component of most groups, and most groups don't start out searching for a minstrel like they would an eld.

Sorc and bard are must have in every alb and hib group but its not all that common you see 2.

Populations are pretty fluid, you can find action as any realm normally.

common Alb setup:
Cleric, Cleric, Sorc, Pala, Theu, 3x dps (mostly Mercs, maybe 1 Tri-Spec-Cab, occasional 1 Reaver)

If you want to 8v8 on a regular basis, dont roll Minstrel.

Depending on your online time (time zone), maybe it would be nice to roll a char, who fits also in small man setups, as at off times there are duos, trios, or 4 man running. Sorc or cleric would be a very wise decision.

Getting a decent template is not that hard on this server (no overcaps and toa stats). I just want you to know, that most pve action is done with a 5 men setup (pala, cleric, theu, reaver, reaver). So I guess as a sorc, once hit 50, you will not find that many groups for gear/money farming.

Distribution of players/pugs ofc changes over time, atm it seems perfect. Before hibs got relics, almost no hib pug ran.

albs running no minstrel is due to the lack of decent minstrels. i would always put in a minstrel, if only there would be one.

Good bards and sorcs are always needed! The groups will come slowly once people gets to know you, if you know how to play one of these main toons. :D

In Albion end game raids are highly dependent on Reavers. Also one of the easiest classes to Autotrain since Crush is better then Flex for xping.
There will be a group of people out there who will want this realm to be entirely Mythic-like. Exactly like vanilla, drop rates/xp rates, basically everything and you will not be able to please them unless it is exactly like vanilla.

These people have their nostalgia goggles on so tight it's cutting off the bloodflow to their brain and they believe that vanilla was perfect and nothing was wrong with it.

Both of which use a ton of endurance compared to little endu usage from Crush.
[3:10pm] <myrmidon^> You have to be a c*** to be awesome at daoc
[3:10pm] <myrmidon^> that's what I learnt
[3:11pm] <Frosty_> then why does austerim suck
lordgriffon wrote:Oh by the way... ever seen a group of 8 smite clerics? Or play against a group like that? I have. Absolute devastation. The group that runs up against them can't kill them fast enough because smite clerics have sooooooo many tools at their disposal combined with decent ranged damage with 8 of them dudes doing it!

The chain doesn't. Indigosnake is obviously for groups and uses medium-fatigue.
